The Kaiser-Wilhelm-Brücke was built in 1905/07.It was then and is still today the longest swing-bridge of Germany. The two-winged swing-bridge is the landmark of Wilhelmshaven. It is a protected monument since 1975. It was fully restored to it´s original state in 2010/13. The stamp was issued on Aug.9th,2007,marking the 100th anniversary of the bridge.

The "Old Rhinebridge" connecting Bad Säckingen with Stein im Aargau. First recorded in the 13th century it is Germany´s longest wood-covered road-bridge. It was destroyed and damaged various times over the centuries.The wooden pillars were replaced by stone- and later concrete-pillars. Since a modern bridge was built close by,the bridge is closed for car-traffic. Now it is open for pedestrians and cyclists only. Although the international border to Switzerland runs right through the middle of the bridge, it is owned and maintained by Bad Säckingen alone. Stamp issued Sept.4th,2008.

From the Monaco series of definitives isued in 1922-23, this view of the railway bridge of Sainte-Dévote:  This is one of those pesky hard-to-find, yet low CV, issues. Part of a larger set where you can find the expensive stamps stand-alone at auctions (like I did) but not among the cheapest values of the set either which one can easily get through trade and in various lots. Now my set is complete! |

The Old Lahn Bridge,built in the 14th Century served for about 600 years as the main road-bridge of Limburg. In 1968 a new bridge was built,what now takes the main-share of the road-traffic. Stamps,with water-activated gum (upper) and self-adhesive (lower) were issued Jan.2nd,2010.

50th anniversary of the Fehmarnsundbrücke
The Fehmarnsund-Bridge is a combined road- and railway-bridge,connecting the island of Fehmarn with mainland Schleswig-Holstein.It has also a pedestrian- and a bycicle-lane. It is part of the Vogelfluglinie (birds-trail) connecting Germany with Kopenhagen and Sweden.
Stamps (water-activated gum,upper,self-adhesive,lower) were issued April 4th,2013.

Set of two stamps issued by the Vatican as part of the Europa 2018 theme on bridges. The stamp on the left shows the Popes Palace in Avignon with its famous bridge in front, at least how it may have looked back when Avignon was a papal residence. The stamp on the right features one of the Roman bridges leading towards the Vatican.  |
