How do you store and organize your stamp mounts?

I store my mounts, U.S. duplicates, covers, current project material, and material that I hope to get to someday in clear plastic shoe boxes.

I like them because they are stackable and you can see through them so you don't need to open them to know what is inside (most of the time).

I started with a plastic tray like this but I then started using clear and black mounts. I migrated to a large Sterilite plastic box (put this in the box) to enclose both type mounts.   The pockets used here are just from the original Showgard mount kit.  For additional sizes, I had cut up some manila folders and folded them to create mount.  A cut down legal size envelope is the ideal width since it is long enough to handle 265mm strips. I will replenish the tray from unopened packages.

Well folks if your like me and have forty or fifty sizes the absolute must store solution is those expandable accordion file folders.I use three separate ones with the most common (smaller) sizes occupying numerous pockets in the first one.Say three pockets each of 24, 25,27,30 etc. The second runs through sizes 44-68.The third contains sizes 70-200+.Pieces left over are easily sorted back into their proper pocket and readily available next time.I spent years searching for an easy way to store mounts and trust me this system is the most practical and easiest to use.I've even found the expandable folders yard sale-ing and picked up a couple extra for less than $1 each.They are also equipped with closure's that will allow for transport and storage.Try it and you'll never use another way.

Firstfrog, I had experimented with that and ended up with what I had. I wanted a shallow pocket and limited my ready access to 52mm mounts.

This is the shelving unit I have. $17.88 at Wal-Mart.

I bought one of those for my kids' video game storage.  It worked reasonably well for them.  We had a similar drawer unit in our bedroom for my wife's hair clips and such, and she didn't like it.  Overall, not bad product, as long as the stuff in it is not too heavy.  I used one for tools, and that was a BIG mistake.

Hi all from the library

I bought 20 stackable drawers from Sterling products.  Each drawer is about 9 x 13 x 1-1/2 inches.  I store my mounts (mounts fit perfectly), paper, "tools", and stuff.  I am not sure if Sterling still has these drawers but one may get them from an office supply, art store, or drafting supply store.

Hi All, I switched to Showgard mounts when I started collecting again about 20 years ago. Then Prinz/Scott. I initially purchased the Showgard Strip Set US3 in black and clear mounts. Over time the dividers and the plastic trays didn't survive very well. So I bought some coated and heavier paper and made my own dividers. The tray/bin I'm using is on Amazon. These seem to work very well. Glad also makes a 13 inch bin that looks good for larger strips.

Remember checks? You would write down how much money you wanted to give someone and they would take it to the bank and get money for it? You can buy accordion folders to hold processed checks. Those folders are good for separating mounts by size if you want portability and low risk of spills, like for a set of mounts you can take to the couch so you can sit with your spouse while you mount a few stamps.

Hm, in my case I am severely OCD. 😂😂😂

Like tonight I started preparing a salad , shredded lettuce onto the plate, turned around to chop tomato and couldn’t find the plate…………



Turns out I had shut it away in the plate drawer. 😤

So I went and topped up my wine glass.😎
