In my attempt to organize the giant pile of stamp mounts I had lying all over the place, I ended up going with this solution.
This is a Staples metal letter holder. It's been working OK, but it's a pain to go through to find the mount I need.
i was wondering what creative solutions other collectors have come up with for organizing their stamps.

I slightly modified an empty facial tissue box to widen the opening and I store them in there, though the biggest size I use is 52 for the most part.

I store my mounts, U.S. duplicates, covers, current project material, and material that I hope to get to someday in clear plastic shoe boxes.
I like them because they are stackable and you can see through them so you don't need to open them to know what is inside (most of the time).

I store my mounts and stamp related supplies in those clear plastic drawer type things you can buy at walmart. As Steve says you can see through them to know what is inside.

I started with a plastic tray like this but I then started using clear and black mounts. I migrated to a large Sterilite plastic box (put this in the box) to enclose both type mounts. The pockets used here are just from the original Showgard mount kit. For additional sizes, I had cut up some manila folders and folded them to create mount. A cut down legal size envelope is the ideal width since it is long enough to handle 265mm strips. I will replenish the tray from unopened packages.

Well folks if your like me and have forty or fifty sizes the absolute must store solution is those expandable accordion file folders.I use three separate ones with the most common (smaller) sizes occupying numerous pockets in the first one.Say three pockets each of 24, 25,27,30 etc. The second runs through sizes 44-68.The third contains sizes 70-200+.Pieces left over are easily sorted back into their proper pocket and readily available next time.I spent years searching for an easy way to store mounts and trust me this system is the most practical and easiest to use.I've even found the expandable folders yard sale-ing and picked up a couple extra for less than $1 each. They are also equipped with closure's that will allow for transport and storage.Try it and you'll never use another way.

I use a set of cheap rolling plastic shelves. The top serves as a workspace, and the mounts are in size order within.

Firstfrog, I had experimented with that and ended up with what I had. I wanted a shallow pocket and limited my ready access to 52mm mounts.

Well, things did not go as planned at Michael's. They would not honor either their 40% off or AC Moore's 60% off coupon, because they items was "on sale" and only "regular price items" are included in the coupon. I've had this problem with AC Moore coupons. You walk in the store looking to get a bunch of things, and everything you want is on-sale, so you can't use the coupon.
I ended up going home and finding a 20% off coupon that works whether the item is on sale or not. So, I placed an online order for store pickup. Cost me $50.00, but I like the idea of it.

I bought one of those for my kids' video game storage. It worked reasonably well for them. We had a similar drawer unit in our bedroom for my wife's hair clips and such, and she didn't like it. Overall, not bad product, as long as the stuff in it is not too heavy. I used one for tools, and that was a BIG mistake.

Hi all from the library
I bought 20 stackable drawers from Sterling products. Each drawer is about 9 x 13 x 1-1/2 inches. I store my mounts (mounts fit perfectly), paper, "tools", and stuff. I am not sure if Sterling still has these drawers but one may get them from an office supply, art store, or drafting supply store.

My needs differ (as a Worldwide collector)
My regime includes perhaps loading 2-12 stamps in a mount strip, then cutting them individually with a Fiskar paper trimmer. I only use "open top" mounts, so I can easily replace better examples. So I cut "showguard" mounts in half lengthwise. I bought 7 Kilograms of mounts, new and used from a Canadian dealer, and have them in drawers ($5 for 4 from a charity shop) I don't need to have special mounts for special stamps, I cut to size
I use archival double sided tape, to attach mounts to pages ( tiny 2-4mm strips) makes the mounts removable.

Hi All, I switched to Showgard mounts when I started collecting again about 20 years ago. Then Prinz/Scott. I initially purchased the Showgard Strip Set US3 in black and clear mounts. Over time the dividers and the plastic trays didn't survive very well. So I bought some coated and heavier paper and made my own dividers. The tray/bin I'm using is on Amazon. These seem to work very well. Glad also makes a 13 inch bin that looks good for larger strips.

Remember checks? You would write down how much money you wanted to give someone and they would take it to the bank and get money for it? You can buy accordion folders to hold processed checks. Those folders are good for separating mounts by size if you want portability and low risk of spills, like for a set of mounts you can take to the couch so you can sit with your spouse while you mount a few stamps.

OMG! Just seen this , unbelievably organised , must have $$$$ banked away in mounts …..your shelves may be cheap , the mounts in quantity certainly aren’t. I have far more of most sizes than I'll ever need, mainly due to a combination of factors. I have mild OCD, so I have to have the correct size mounts. Oversized won't cut it. Add to that the fact that Germany, especially the occupied areas, requires a lot of odd sizes. So I end up needing a large variety of sizes. When I started working on putting everything on pages, I was living overseas and getting mounts was a huge pain. I had to order from the US, then have them shipped through the military mail system. It could easily take a month or two to get an order. So, I ordered a few of every size. Then I ended up needing lots of certain sizes, so I have some sizes in large quantities. And I keep re-doing my pages. The OCD again.

Hm, in my case I am severely OCD. 😂😂😂
BUT FOR ME IT MEANS “overly Chaotic disorganised”
Like tonight I started preparing a salad , shredded lettuce onto the plate, turned around to chop tomato and couldn’t find the plate…………
Turns out I had shut it away in the plate drawer. 😤
So I went and topped up my wine glass.😎

I actually received a check ( cheque in UK) today and also wrote one to someone else ! They are still around despite instant free transactions bank to bank here in UK and Europe via the internet.

Purchased on my recent trip to Buenos Aires,Argentina. The black mounts are similar in quality to Hawid which I have been using. The transparent mounts have no gum and the one side appears to be a little heavier than the side which requires gum.

For your consideration. I took advice from member "PostmasterGS" and tried "Scotch Double Sided adhesive tape" (Photo safe) for attaching my mounts. Probably used now for 5-10 years? and no problems I cut a tiny 2-3 mm strip , place on the back of the mount, and adhere to the page (they are removable if you need to adjust the position) I have tried to remove one from memory, after 5 years or so, and it appeared permanent, I did not want to damage the album page. Postmaster may wish to chip in, regarding his experience. I find them fabulous for ease of use.

As per what rod222 stated, I began using Scotch Double Sided adhesive tape for the few mounted stamps I have. The top stamp is mounted but I'll need to mount the 4 block to keep it from shifting.

I use the tiniest strip, of Scotch, 2-3mm, seems to keep the mounts safely aligned. A roll should last months if not years. I thought mine also said "Archival" , but dashed if I can find any text in the scans I made. Just "Photo Safe" and "Guaranteed" Here it reads "Acid Free" (300 inches)
