I was wondering when that cover might show up !! Michael, it was only ever a matter of when, not if, and I think you always knew that! So glad that you were there to see it.... It didn't take long for you to figure me out, I think! Ha ha, I figured you out before I arrived !!

Many thanks to Michael ( Londonbus1 ), Jon ( blaamand ) and René ( renden ) for your kind comments about the previous cover. So, not sure if any of you picked up on the fact that I wrote that it was the first such item, so here is the second: Here is the cover in its entirety, with a 2723 large numeral postmark with CDS from Oloron-Sainte-Marie, which is located in the western Pyrenees, and dated in 1868. I should perhaps also mention that "poste restante" means "general delivery", although René and others certainly already knew that! Here is close-up view of the postmark and the stamp. Well, Jon, I agree with you both that these stamps and postmarks are attractive, but I am not sure I want to start another new collection at this point. I think that these may be destined for a higher purpose....

Finally, my album pages for 'Losanges GC' - Large numerals - are ready for use. Data from several WEB resources have been merged and converted into the Excel database - and no less than 112 pages generated, giving room for the 5472 different Large numerals that were used in continental France. (excluding Monaco) In honor of Chris Beryllium Guy 's great find, I'll share a (poorly pdf-to-jpg converted) simulation of how 2240E would have appeared if mounted on page no.49 - if it was not affixed to that nice envelope, that is There has been absolutely no interest in my free offer/giveaway for Album pages for the Lozenges PC (Small numerals) - so it seems barbu and me are quite alone in this endeavor, at least in this forum Should anyone be keen on collecting the different Numeral cancellations of France, a total of 212 album pages for all PC and GC postmarks are readily available ( free PDF )

I am truly honored to be mentioned alongside of your great work in developing these pages. They look terrific! Well, my old Mom always used to say "never say never", so if you and Jens ( barbu) and René ( renden) are starting a club to collect this material, then I want to join, too! Please send me the PDFs as well.

Thanks a lot for the kind words, Beryllium Guy. I am so pleased to see that both of you, Chris and renden, are getting keen on French Numeral Postmarks!! Everything feels better if possible to share with others. barbu and me have really not had anyone to share our passion with until now, so your curiosity is most welcome!! Will be like establishing a tiny club, tough club gatherings will be quite awkward... Check your inboxes

Hi Renden, Chris and Jon and everybody interested in France numerals cancellations It will be an honour to join this club on such a delightful subject! Nice to see the interest in these marvelous cancellations. I am really impressed about Jons (Blaamand) work on the cancellation database we have used for some time. Now as it is also possible to make such fantastic print-outs of the cancellation "registers" (to set up pre-made pages for whatever cancellations you put into the database) it is totally insane satisfying!! These pages for France numerals is just a small part of it all, so there might be more clubs coming up... Anyhow, first of us to complete those pages should be President...if not already put aside to a psycical asylum! Good luck!

Hahahahahaha - most probably the later - it is kind of a crazy undertaking just to start it, now completing it would be - beyond insane Indeed ! (bu maybe you shouldn't have mentioned it, brother, now they will all realize we should have been locked up at that asylum already )

Ok, I've been totally unstampy lately, but non-the-less I managed to 'pick-up' some very nice covers with French numeral postmarks!! ...no, that makes no sense, does it? The sole reason is that Santa Claus came early to my home town this year .... A thick envelope with lots of nice French material ended up in my mailbox last week, as a generous give-away from our good friend Beryllium Guy . The beautiful covers he shared earlier in this thread were just some of the nice stuff I received from him, THis forum - you guys - are all terrific. Huge thanks to Chris for his kindness and generosity.

Thanks - cover shown René Remember that it is a 2240 "E", which I am told means that it was postmarked in one of the smaller and much less common areas of Marseille. (Info from the stamp dealer in Aix, but perhaps zipper can comment further....)

Very nice cover René. As a matter of coincidence (?), GC 2240 E is already displayed in this thread, was included on the postmarks album image 24.Sep.18, listed as Marseille Chapitre.
