Great Britain - 1996 European Soccer Championship IssueIn May 1996, GB issued a set of 5 stamps to mark the European Championships by commemorating past famous players. I have only one stamp out of the set, in honor of Billy Wright, which I acquired from feebletodix in one of his mixed lot offerings. Thanks, Gavin! Although this is a modern stamp, it has a bit of a retro look to it, and I like it very much. I also really wanted to finally contribute something to this thread, started by Xavier ( hrdoktorx ) at my encouragement. I will continue to look for more soccer (football) related material to post in the future, too, as I have really been enjoying this thread. Card, issued on the stamp exhibition, held on March 1999, in the FC Barcelona Stadium (Camp Nou) Museum, to celebrate its 100 years. There can be seen the stadium in both the card and the postmark as well as the centenary stamp, based on a work from the Catalan artist Antoni Tàpies. The exhibition lasted for about a week and was a complete success. I was there.
Stationary issued for the same exhibition, with the European Championship, won on the old Wembley Stadium on May, 20th, 1992
