firstfrog2013How much older ? India has issued miniature sheets frequently since 2001. There are a few older issues which I do not have. Will be posting more images later on. What are your collection preferences ? Regards Raghavendra

I was just wondering if you had interest in the early engraved stamps.I love seeing what others collect.I always feel like the odd one although I reside in the good old U.S.A.(Seems most collect where they live).I never collected them.My first album was a cornet W/W. At age eight I had made up my mind I liked the stamps of Canada.I branched into Liberia but have put that aside for awhile. I also seem attracted to poster stamps or cinderillas. My most recent calling is the private perfins and exploring sheet layouts of the Admiral issue of Canada.

I do collect the older issues but do not have many of them now. Right now I am trying to complete my India post independence (1947) collection which has many gaps. Will work on pre-independence later.

Right now I am trying to complete my India post independence (1947) collection which has many gaps. Raghavendra, Are you including in your post independence collection current issues or have you decided to establish a cut-off date? For example, I stopped actively pursuing U.S. stamps issued after 1985. The decision to establish an end date for my U.S. collection was primarily an economic one as it allowed me to apply limited funds toward the purchase of earlier issuances. I've never regretted my decision. At the end of 1985 the Scott catalog had listings for slightly more than 2,150 definitive and commemorative stamps -- today that number is well over 4,500. I purchased my 4-margin Scott #1 for less than it would have cost me to by a year's worth of today's issuances with all of their assorted variations.

Steve ! I include all current issues in my post independence collection, no cut off date as of now.
The Aldabra tortoise issue is a sheetlet and they were issued in four varieties (various combinations of the five rupee and fifteen rupee stamps)

2008 Aldabra Tortoise sheet - not sure if it is really miniature, though BC I believe this would classify as a 'sheetlet'.

AGRA, INDIA, 1988. This attractive Souvenir Sheet of the World's most amazing building (my opinion) always brings back such lovely and not so lovely memories. The 'lovely' was see the amazing Taj Mahal. The not-so-Lovely was that my stay in Agra was during Diwali and the same evening I was very sick in my Guest House room having joined in the festivities until late. Then to top all that, I awoke in the middle of the night to find ants all over my bed....and me !!!! I will never forget it. A huge photo I took of the Taj Mahal adorns our lounge wall. It is the only permanent fixture in our ever-changing circle of life !

It seems whoever is in charge of Philately in India Post now must love miniature/souvenir sheets. In last few years India post has released miniature sheets like there is no tomorrow. Many stamps have been released only in miniature sheet version or "sheetlets" version.
