Capetown, South Africa January 17, 1981
What makes this cover special is the NCR meter on the cover. These were only issued in post offices. As in this case these meters are usually found on registered covers. The catalog number of this meter is PO1.1. The cover was also forwarded form Durban, South Africa to Mesa, AZ, USA. I never could make out the design in the wax seal, though it is neat to see one on a cover from the 1980's.

Does anyone know anything about this cover. Doing some research but not getting very far due to annoyances like work, phone calls, bad neck pain and other jobs. But it will be done.........any help would be appreciated ! (covers are not my strong point)

'Tomorrow is another day' !! That's what they say. Yesterday my brief searches turned up zero ! Today the whole world is opening up ! G.Budrick & Co is an Art Gallery and they also produced postcards that look very attractive. The Cape Town business must have produced covers at some point because I just found another one similar to mine that went unsold on eBay at £150.00 !!!!! (Well, it was a bit poor, condition-wise). So I'm getting there.

Two covers franked with the 6d orange tree definitives:
Top: Registered 6-pence single franking to Canada -- 2-pence Empire Rate surface letter + 4-pence registration, 1940. (A distance of 10,000+ miles, 36 days transit.)
Bottom Strip of 4 -- 2-shillings airmail to the United states, 1937.
Can someone scan the appropriate pages for this stamp - - types, printings etc. from a Stanley Gibbons catalog (or any other reference) and PM or email them to me? (I have Scott)

My only cover from South Africa. Registered from Vryburg (24 Aug 1922) to Chicago(1 Oct 1922) via New York (28 Sep 1922). It also has two five digit numbers on the face that I know not who stamped them or why they were stamped. And a nice intact wax seal.
So about 5 weeks from Capetown to New York via ship(s). Probably faster than what I would experience today.

Found this in the back of a collection I bought. I was really after the stamps, but there were 3 of these stuffed in the back of the pages. No notation, didn't really catch my eye until I sorted them. All three had Ceylon postage and all were from POW camps. I kept this one as it was from one POW camp to another. The whole collection cost me less than $50USD, I sold two of these covers for over $400 each. I was shocked, starting bid at .99c. Would have loved to have the contents, but they are lost to time.

Correct on CP being Cape Province, Goodwood is actually a suburb of the city of Cape Town.
