Modern Bénin, having started re-using the name in 1976, is not so philatelically interesting. But there are also issues from 1892-1894 as a French colony, of which I have one example, YT#20.  |

There is however a period in Bénin's philatelic history, circa 1983, that is more intriguing. At that time, a lot of older stock (from Bénin and its forerunner Dahomey) was used with local overprints. The Yvert&Tellier catalog only has a partial listing of these local overprints, as records from the Bénin postal authorities were not complete. Here are my own stamps from this period, including two not in the YT listings:  |

Not ever seen any such Pmks on the French Colonies stamps, as yet.
They are common on Dahomey stamps.
