Good eyes Brian !! I'm quite sure it's a fake but fits on the page anyway. Let the next guy figure out what lurks on my pages. I've pretty much given up trying to be correct.I'm in it only for the fun.

Another decent find.Looks ugly but that's the point it is actually NSB12a. My old Van Dam(1991) lists this at over $200.Found in a $5 lot.The description is rough perf.121/2.Rough is right.

Still looking for answer on this one.I tried wading through articles on BNAPS but gave up after two hours of reading newsletters. The stamp is waiting in my watermark dish but really needs to be filed away soon.

I assume you have one of the ones below A dealer in revenues of some note says he is not aware of a watermark - but then dealers are not infallible...

Thanks for sharing Firstfrog. I do not have the Bill Stamps as I decided as I needed to have a limit. I do have a few of the fogeries. I do have one that is a genuine stamp with a forged overprint. That came with a certificate confirming it. Once I get all the scanning/ posting stuff figured out I will share. I just need to get in mindset to learn it and use it. But with all the stamp work I would like/need to do, it gets lower priority. david

Well, call me a sucker for wanting to contribute to a trending topic, but there it is. I had been planning to do some other things today, but got lured in by the exchange between firstfrog2013 and dgdecker -- many thanks to both of you for piquing my interest. Also, compliments to Poodle_Mum on some of your earlier postings -- very nice, indeed! So, for starters, here is a scan of the only page for Nova Scotia in my old brown-cover Scott International Album. My holdings are meager, to be sure, but here they are. I have not yet mounted my #8 and #8a (black on yellowish paper and black on white paper, respectively), so I have scanned those separately at higher resolution. I have really struggled to find these stamps with nice centering. Most of mine have 3 clear margins and one close one. I will continue to keep an eye out to upgrade these at some point if I can.

BG if you're looking to fill those spaces at the top of that page it will likely be a second mortgage. Kind of like trying to complete a British Colombia collection.

I know that many of the early Canada and Canadian Provinces issues can be very expensive indeed. British Columbia, Nova Scotia, and Prince Edward Island all have lots of pricey early issues, and even New Brunswick and Newfoundland have some expensive ones, too. Well, we'll see what happens. I have some sports memorabilia and other collectibles that I have been looking to sell, so if I can get going on that, maybe I can raise some funds to consider a run at some of these early issues. I am also starting to consider the possibility of down-scoping my collection to the 19th Century, which would help me to focus my resources more, and that would still include most of the Canadian Provinces and Australian States issues that I like so much.

I have always wanted a BC or Vancouver Island stamp ever since I first discovered they existed back in my teenage years. This year I bought my first BC stamp as a gift for a friend. I planned the purchase well in advance ( 6months) and ended up with a great deal. It was really difficult to give it away, but worth the glee on my friends face as he realized it was from his home province. I did tell him not to expect a second one for his next milestone birthday. Very nice scans! It took me over 15 years to find one of the pence issues and even longer to find another.
I've yet to see a genuine dull purple shilling. I'll keep looking for the next 40 years! Lol
I have a #1 horizontal pair that is absolutely breathtaking.
Indeed the Provinces are expensive. I focused primarily on NS. I now also have one issue from each of the BC/Vancouver Island sets.
My PEI is quite limited and unfortunately my Newfies do not include any pence issues.

I hope one day to catch up with your own NS collection.I was wondering if you too delve into the NS Bob? I know once I get started, I will be fine. I am not good at figuring out on my own. I like written directions right next to me. There are some great tutorials on this blog for me to use. Once I get the hang of it , i will become a pro. I will use my iPad for instructions and scan using laptop applications. I do not even own a cell phone. Not that I am that scared by technology. Just cannot justify cost along with a landline. I get extremely frustrated when technology does not work and no explanation why.

Just saw a new listing on EBay.
#8-13 offered MNH and MH. A total of 12 stamps. Looks like a set on each paper type. Seller wants only $US 900. no image of back old stamps offered.
i know these stamps can be pricey but am I crazy to think these are over priced? They look like good quality to me. I am tempted to inquire how the seller determined the asking price. Based on what catalogue valuation? Seller is using SG number system so perhaps might values there.
i think the copies I own are of the same quality, so that would make my mint singles alone « worth » $US 2500. I wonder if I could ever get that much if I ever attempted to sell.
my musing for tonight.

Very interesting, Frog, thanks for posting. It seems like a fair price, too, to be able to buy it now for about US $22 plus shipping.

I have gone over my « budget » this month for new acquisitions. I have to do some reading about this variety. I think it is quite reasonably priced. David

Took about 25 years to create this collection (including the other pages posted earlier which show the various paper types and colour variations of the cent issues). Missing one stamp. It'll probably take another 15 years to find it if I'm ever lucky enough.

There is a big question mark on one of the shilling forgeries. I've not yet found the error that identifies it as a forgery and it could very well be a reprint. I've got a good magnification system now so I'll be able to investigate it more to find an extended line or error in the numerals.

I'm in the midst of creating my own pages and using my Scott Junior International Albums to make a personal edition of Big Blue so one day these will be nicely mounted. Since I'm making light background quadrille pages with only the country information at the top as is common in Scott Albums, these will be penciled with the appropriate information as well as certificates.
I also have a nice 3 pence on cover with attached letter.
It would be nice to have a few more varieties of #13 but I'm tapped out and there will be another time in the future to do that.
