OK, it has been awhile since I contributed an image to this thread, and it's about time that I did again, since I now live in a different place than when I last posted a photo of my stamp desk. In Aix, I had no dedicated area, so I generally worked on the kitchen table for as long as it was possible at any given time. Here in the UK, there is a small built-in desk in our spare bedroom, and I have taken that as my stamp desk. Here is a photo from Saturday morning, showing my Germania accumulation in mid-sort. Shortly after taking this photo, I put away the Germanias and pulled out the Hong Kong material. There are also built-in shelves above the desk, and in the closet unit to the left, which I use for storing my materials.

Right now my desk looks like something between the aftermath of a hurricane and a teenager's bedroom. I will not dishonor all of you with a photo until it is cleaned up, neat and tidy.

I guess you "need" to see my jungle which takes 3/4 of the 2nd room in my Condo (my wife took the pics so I have her o.k. !!) The glare is as a result of the huge amounts of snow we have had up to today René

Thanks to all for sharing some of their stamp-caves. Congratulations on your own little workplace Chris Beryllium Guy - well deserved! Thats not a very huge desk, but I guess for someone used to studying atoms it is extremely huge in comparison Nice study you have there renden - loads of reference books - and a guitar if you ever get bored!

Well it’s been a hot but busy day here. I managed to find a very nice desk on Facebook marketplace and picked it up at 10pm last might. I’ve spent most of the day putting it back together and moving the living room around to accommodate it. The seller had a lazy tape measure! I now have a dedicated stamp area (and also retro Commodore computers) Quoting with image to move a copy to a subject-specific thread.

Just giving this thread a bump, to note that I moved a copy of Graham's ( radiocruncher ) post from the Whatcha thread. It looks like a nice starter desk, Graham. I think that the best part about it is the built-in book cases. For stamps, I like a desk like that, where I can have the reference and stock books handy. I have a similar sort of set-up here in Oxford, as you can see in my earlier post in this thread. Back in the US, my desk offered a larger work area, which was nice, but all of my references were housed in book cases across the room, so I was constantly getting up and down to use them as the need arose. It occurs to me that maybe that's not such a bad thing, as it does incorporate a bit of exercise into stamping....

Here’s an updated picture of the desk in full flow complete with Commodore 1084S monitor and C64 computer.

Wow, the Commodore 64 was my first full-fledged computer! Sadly, it is long gone. Sold in Germany when I jumped to Apple Macintosh.
Here is my desk this morning...
It looks like the way my brain works! Everything in sight or it's forgotten. I have to get a handle on this mess and tidy things up today, and put stamps away before they get wrecked!

I had a quick spin on Commando before I unplugged it. My first computer was the Commodore VIC20. The desk looks well used which is how it should be. The moment you tidy up is when things mysteriously start to disappear.

Clear-Out of the Stamp Desk in OxfordIn view of my recent activities, I thought it was time to give this old thread a bump. I am down to my last 3 days of work, and we move out of our place on Friday. As I am sure you can all imagine, packing up has been the order of the day for the past several days, and after going through everything on my stamp desk and in the closet next to it, all items have either been discarded, given away, or packed up. Below are the "before-and-after" views. And in this case, the "before" view already had some items packed, so the image doesn't even show all of it. Boy, I sure acquired a lot of stamp stuff during my time in Europe.

Thanks so much, Peter ( brightonpete)! I don't mind telling you that these past few days have been stressful as I have realized how much stuff I actually accumulated, and then I was faced with getting rid of much more than I had wanted to. Ah, well. In the end, I feel sure that it's good for me to do it, especially because I know what awaits me in the US.... And that would be all the household goods we put into storage 4½ years ago thinking we would be in Europe 1 year or 2 at the most. Ha! Bottom line: I need to get used to the idea of getting rid of stuff, because when we move back to California, we will be moving into a furnished house, so much of our original stuff will need to go.
