Hi there, I received these two stamps in a packet of Austria and I can't figure them out. I've checked through all the Balkan countries I can think of with no success. Any ideas?

KPHTH means Crete but I cannot translate the title box except as gibberish - Mroxorine and Kybernexix'

These are the "so-called revolutionary stamps of 1905" mentioned in a note in Scott's listings for Crete. There are no illustrations in Scott but if you enter "Crete revolutionary stamps of 1905" as a search string, images show up which are the same as what you have. And one of the links on that search is to our thread on Crete here on TSF. Ryan

Crete 1905 The top one appears to be a forgery - corner elements don't look right - need a better closeup The other may be a reprint. Difficult to measure but the perf should be exactly 11.5 in a genuine
Many forgeries & reprints exist

My AFA catalog lists those two issues as from Crete, "Therison Post", from 1950.

Thanks everyone! Looks like I’m at the start of a fun journey. I forgot about iswsc. Was a member years ago. Will check that out too.
