Thanks for sharing René ( renden)! I like the 3 ring cancel (1942) on a 2c KGVI war issue. That is a beautiful cover; 01 July dated cancel and nicely complimented with the Canadian Coat of Arms!!
All it is missing is the maple syrup ;-)

Here is a recent purchase, Canada's map stamp (Scott No.85) and identified as Plate 3A, Position 91.
In this case though, it was the coloured cancel from Toronto that caught my eye! I do not recognize this type or variety of cancel and to find one on a map stamp is unusual. If anyone can share additional details or a full version of the cancel, please do...
Yet another venue to try and solve the mystery that is this cancel; I have not given up yet...
Happy collecting!

It could be René that each study group has its own membership roster and subscriptions similar to that of the American Topical Association (ATA) and their individual study groups. Just a thought...
Happy collection!

Another cover of interest (or not) !2 cent Map Stamp cancelled by "Roller" -R. R. Winmill (The evolution of the Imperial Penny Postage and Postal History of the Canadian 1898 Map Stamp) On page 67 of this book, he states: ".....such cancels are rarely applied to first class mail because they are not dated" and.... "Such cancels are particularly uncommon (but definitely not rare) on Map Stamps". You will recognize Victoria, B.C. and the number "2" on this cancel. From his Table, one learns that this cancel was used in Victoria, B.C. during the Period I (1894-1898) Foreign Destination cover to BRESLAU, GER
If no one has mentioned, this is a decidedly scarce international destination printed matter item. I can't tell how complete the item is. Congrats on finding it.

Over the weekend, I saw this cover on an on-line reseller's website and would submit that the cancel on the earlier shared 'Map Stamp' is likely from the same Toronto Sub. PO. (Spadina Ave.) with relative certainty,
Although it could also be one of several other Toronto other sub-stations, at least now I can assign the cancel a name on my album page, i.e. "Toronto Substation PO" Case closed...
Happy collecting!

Canada Flag Cancel dated July 1897 on a 3¢ Jubilee -these devices were considered new cancellation ones and are only properly collected on cover. These are machine cancels and what is interesting to me is the 1897 date of this Montreal cancel and the Diamond Jubilee issue was 1897, Jun 19 - making this cover quite close to the issue date.

What I collect: I collect world wide up to 1965 with several specialty albums added due to volume of material I have acquired. At this point I am focused on Canada and British America. I am always on the lookout for stamps and covers with postmarks from communities in Queens County, Nova Scotia. I do list various goods including stamps occasionally on eBay as hdm50

This is the back of a cover I was not successful in buying this week but thought the unusual YARMOUTH DOMN OF CANADA cancel was worth sharing. I was bidding on the cover for another cancel but was intrigued as to why it was not YARMOUTH N.S.. From research I discovered that Yarmouth was the only place in Canada that used a DOMN OF CANADA cancel. The hammer was proofed in c 1869 and was in use until 1875. They do show up on the market and surprisingly do not go for big money.

hdm1950 - actually the text at the top reads YARMOUTH N.S. thus the provincial designation is included.
It is a neat postmark, none the less.

Correct JeffS , I just saw that. The postmark under it is for SHELBURNE N.S. which would have been a transit point. The other faint cancel is for the final destination of ARCADIA N.S. which is a small town outside of Yarmouth. The mourning card was mailed from MILTON N.S. which is a village in my home county. I was bidding to have an earlier Milton cancel than the few I have.

This is definitely a one-of-a-kind Canada cancel. Take a good look at this Scott 104 Admiral stamp. No legal cancel as per Canada post cancelling system. This was a trial run to adjust a cancelling machine
Below is the stamp and below that is the write up and explanation of this weird cancel by BNAPS I do not think any collector could find another one.

While it looks like gibberish, this is a fairly common Canadian slogan cancel which notes that envelopes smaller than 00 x 00 inches are not allowed. Should be in Coutts slogan book.

Here is a cover that has FREE cancel mailing from the "House of Commons". The Cover had FREE cancel on March..1974. Also the initial in the bottom left hand corner was possibly that of "The Honorable Robert Douglas George Stanbury"

And here is the full version of the same slogan cancel in all its glory (or at least a relevant variant),
ENVELOPES SMALLER THAN 4" BY ?? UNACCEPTABLE FOR MAILING
As for the text that JeffS references, a copy can be found here WERT ,
Slogan Postmarks of Canada2012 reprint of the original 2007 catalogue Cecil Coutts Released January 2012. 328 pages, 8.5x11, spiral bound. Colour C$ 28.00 [ISBN 978-0-9680225-2-8].

WERT - Thank you stanley64 for providing that illustration.
I did some digging online last night and dived into the BNAPS online file of the Slogan Study Group (which a fellow named Dan Rosenblat and I founded back in ca 1988) and found a short article listed on this slogan in Volume 2, Number 6, whole number 11 (December 1989) of the groups newsletter THE SLOGAN BOX. I was surprised to see that this 2 page article (pages 17-18) was overlooked being scanned and included in the online reference.
Here's a link to that issue: bnaps.org/hhl/newsletters/slgn/sb-1989-12-v002n06-w011.pdf
When we moved residence a few years ago, I lightened my philatelic load of most of my Canadian references. Makes me smile that our work of some 30+ years ago can still be helpful. Several years of newsletters from the Group are available for perusing. Perhaps worth bookmarking for anyone interested in slogan cancels, especially of the Canadian flavor.

WERT - the "wierd vertical cancel" is simply a 1-cent meter postage added to uprate a then obsolete 3c value postal card to the current 4-c post card rate. Here is a cancel "Royal Philatelic Society"....Notice cancel date is May 26-27-28, 1966 advertising. And weird vertical cancel also mailed to Hamilton, Ontario, Canada.
