NASA's Perseverance rover recently marked its first anniversary on Mars. Here are a couple of related event covers from my collection. The first features a pictorial postmark offered on February 18, 2021, when the rover made its landing on Mars, and uses one of USPS' 2016 Star Trek stamps (Scott 5134). The cover was made by Tricia Richmond at McIntosh Cachets.  The other commemorates NASA's announcement on March 5, 2021 that it was retroactively naming Perseverance's landing site after the great science fiction author Octavia E. Butler. The cover uses one of USPS' 2019 Moon Landing stamps (Scott 5400), and comes with an excellent cachet honoring Butler's work. The cover was made by Don Neal of 6° Cachets.  I have to say, I wish USPS had issued a stamp to commemorate Perseverance's landing last year! In the absence of that, these cachetmakers both did a great job celebrating an exciting moment in solar system exploration. |

One of two 55 cent Forever stamps issued on July 19, 2019 at Cape Canaveral, Florida to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the first Moon landing (Scott 5400). The other stamp in the set depicts an astronaut (Scott 5399). The stamps were printed by Banknote Corporation of America. This stamp depicts the location of the landing on the Moon.  |

What I collect: I collect world wide up to 1965 with several specialty albums added due to volume of material I have acquired. At this point I am focused on Canada and British America. I am always on the lookout for stamps and covers with postmarks from communities in Queens County, Nova Scotia. I do list various goods including stamps occasionally on eBay as hdm50

This sheet is far newer than I would normally keep but was just too nice to use for postage. These stamps were issued on October 1, 1992 to commemorate Canada in Space. Unitrade 1441 features the ANIK E2 satellite and Unitrade 1442 is a hologram celebrating Astronauts achievements.
