I came across three very interesting space-themed covers recently. They are made by, and addressed to, a 1960s cachetmaker named Hans J. Mueller (HJM). One of them is postmarked June 3, 1965 at Las Cruces, NM, to celebrate astronaut Ed White’s historic Gemini 4 space walk on that date. The others are from December 10, 1966 at Wallops Island, VA for a Horizon Scanner rocket launch the prior evening, and April 7, 1966 at Cape Canaveral, FL, for a missile launch from a nuclear submarine.     I found a longer list of HJM cachets here (link), with more information for anyone who is interested. I also have a bunch of submarine/naval covers addressed to Mueller, without his distinctive cachets; still sorting through those. |

issued July 20th,1979. The self-adhesive,rouletted stamps were issued in a booklet only,containing two panes. The second pane contains the 20 C and Rs.3.- values only. So there is only one Rs.5.- stamp in the booklet.

I liked the sheet portraying Yuri Gagarin in uniform, that's a handsome likeness. I think it is worth recalling how Gagarin returned to Earth after his first flight. At a safe altitude after re-entry, his craft automatically popped him out and he landed with a parachute. Talk about cahones....
