When Djibouti acquired independence in 1977, the first issued stamps were recent Afars and Issas stock where the "RF" and "Territoire Français des Afars et des Issas" mentions were overprinted with "République de Djibouti". Here are a few examples:  |

This thread has been inactive for more than 1 year. As it happened a friend gave me his late dad's WW collection last week. As I went through various Vario sheets/Countries.....found some Djibouti Rep stamps and picked some to show these beautiful ones, most celebrating an event, including Sir Roland Hill. Since I do not collect this République, they are put aside for a Djibouti Rep (République de Djibouti) collector in our membership ! Adding to the thread Xavier hrdoktorx started... René  |
