What I collect: Worldwide - Stamps and Postmarks - not enough time...

Thanks @djchm - you're right, Facit Special goes far beyond Michel. Obviously, being 'the' catalog for Sweden. At times Facit may feel a bit to overcomplicated and going into very minute details - but I just have to follow, I like to have the pages prepared for any eventuality ๐

I need an opinion- last stamp on page- solo release, row above is a 3 stamp series. Next stamps after the last one is a series of 6 stamps (and also the last of 1956 non-definitive issues, except for Red Cross (which is complete/mounted with booklet). This is on 20# white paper, final will be on ivory Velum (and I may adjust vertical spacing a bit), but which layout of information ? I'm leaning towards the one with top left and right, rather than the left/right information probably splitting hairs [/url][/span] thyanks for any comments

What I collect: I collect world wide up to 1965 with several specialty albums added due to volume of material I have acquired. At this point I am focused on Canada and British America. I am always on the lookout for stamps and covers with postmarks from communities in Queens County, Nova Scotia. I do list various goods including stamps occasionally on eBay as hdm50

The top, left and right layout for the last stamp shows better balance.

I agree with hdm1950 that top-left-right looks better. Here's my Yvert page for those stamps: I wish it would have the description and black border yours have. Looks great. Congrats.

I prefer the top page. I set the title of the stamp at 14 point, subsequent data on next line at 10 point, date at 8 point. I just think having the title at a larger font size would look better. But of course that is my 2ยข worth!

Perfortation at bottom of page.

thanks all for your comments! I saw the typo as well as one other (not to mention thyanks....) at this point font size is pretty locked in with over 100 pages now made.. nice page ericdrive ! I can't fit quite that many with the amount of info I include - which I know is not everybodies cup of tee, but for me I want to eliminate a need to grab a catalogue. Thanks again

The chance of finding an error increases by orders of magnitude if you decide to print on nice paper or post online. I have a drawer full of pages with minor mistakes.

I have a drawer full of pages with minor mistakes. i have a number of pages with an "error" on the back side. I figured this was a better use of resources.... however those pages with mounts already placed get placed in the recycle bin.

Most do not have mounts so I save to use a scrap such as tags.

Part 2 - with the increasing number of se-tenants, have moved to using 4-pocket Varios

Part III - for the vertical se-tenants that do not fit in 4 pocket Varios, I create a separate section using 3-pocket Varios in the volume - that way do not have to display turned 90 degree off alignment. Now to start 1998 and get into the Mammals definitives with all their variant.

The exact reason why I add info on my pages too! I'm exactly the same, don't want to be reliant on a catalogue when mounting! However I try to limit the information included on the pages to only what's strictly needed to differentiate between varieties of the 'same' stamp. If there's no varieties or reason for confusion, I don't add any other info than the denomination. And that goes inside the boxes, so it will not be visible after mounting. This in interest of not cluttering the pages with too much 'noise'. Or....it might be because I'm simply too lazy to add all of that info I normally only include any information below the boxes if it is necessarry to see that information after the stamps have been mounted, to explain the difference between 'face-identical' stamps.

There are two extremes - minimalist layout vs the reference book.

You are putting a lot of effort into getting all that information right - impressive I agree with hdm1950 and Stanley. The top, left and right layout for the last stamp shows better balance.

All these pages are so amazing and beautiful. Congratulations all!
I'm sorry if this is not the thread to ask, but, if I wanted to create my own pages, like you guys, what would be the best way to go about it? I've seen somewhere that there's a program for it, but not sure what you experts are using to achieve these beauties. Thank you

And Part II. Binder now is at 40 pages (~20 varios) so looks like I should be able to fit 1991 into this volume, which is perfect as that will mean I start Volume 6 with the Berries & Fruit Defnitive Era

I'm still working away on my Sweden pages. They've issued lots of stamps with both perforations 2-sided and 3 sided, and even corner-cut. And pairs of the same, even se-tenants. I opt to include boxes both for the singles and the pairs. Here's Gustav VI series - Type I Here's Type II. The page did get a bit crammed / dense, but I do prefer to keep it all on one page when possible. I can live with the 'density' Type III took another 4 pages to include all the varieties and pairs....

I'm no data geek or programer at all, so I prefer Powerpoint for being completely intuitive. I am also a visual type of person, and prefer to visualize what I do as I work. In Powerpoint you will see the product while actually working on it - and it has tons of tools to allow for all sorts of graphic manipulation. ( Personally I couldn't stand working with coding, but that just me, I really respect those of you that do!)

That is some lovely looking pages blaamand John. My Lighthouse album look like shxxxt compared to these pages. That said, getting all the different types take some time. I have decided to cut out the single three sided stamps, collect them as pairs, and that is because Light room do that.

Thanks a lot for your kind words tobben63 . Yeah, I was considering to include the pairs only, and skip the singles - but in many cases I guess I only have the singles...hence I decided it would be ok to have boxes for them as well. If you want to swop from Lighthouse to something more extensive, you know I charge 0.00 for my pages

What gets me about the expensive pre-printed albums is that usually only cover the basic issues so a mismatch. That is, if someone can afford the price of the album they would likely be more specialized in what they collect so the material is not in these expensive albums. Some of this is related to Scott listing policy and this has a dramatic effect on what is on commercial pages including their own. This gets to what is a major number and minor number. Many are readily available and easily distinguishable. Unlike some of the classic stamps where you need to be an expert to tell two major varieties apart based upon plate scratches. For example. This is a custom page for US Mystic album to add minor and unlisted varieties. If these were classics, most would have major catalog status. There is a collecting transition from collecting different designs to collecting production differences in the designs,

ericdrive : I use Album Easy for the most part. But when there are strips of stamps that fit sideways, I switch to the Mac app called "Graphic". It's much easier to use when it comes to sideways printing. There's all kinds of app's you can use. Pick one that fits with the way your brain works. Album Easy is easy to use. It might just do the trick for you.
