Hi JeffS... I see them listed in Scott's as Guavas. No oranges in that series! Next!

Hey Peter brightonpete, thank you for looking. However I am not convinced it is a guava. That fruit is supposed to be pear-shaped and green, not squatty round and orange (although there are such color varieties.) I am more suspecting a Mandarin or such. I'll keep searching. Thanks again.

Stanley Gibbons have 4 series of Fruits issued from 2001 but they all had different values. The $12 was part of the first series but identifies the fruit as pears and the $7 as guava. If that's not right either, I suggest you write a strongly worded letter to Mr Gibbons himself

JeffS, there is a $3.50 tangerines stamp in that same set issued in 2001 by the ROC.

google suggests Eugenia pyriformis. Is an orange colour guava with leaf shape similar to those on that ROC stamp so Scott may be correct

ROC has a number of fruit related stamps including this one, Sc. 4366, Orange, issued in July of 2017. I received a large number of fruit definitives from a postcrosser in Taiwan including this stamp:

I think that Stanley Gibbons may well be right. JeffS , I hope you haven't sent off that letter yet.

"Thank You" to brightonpete, daniel, darkormex, and vikingeck for taking the time to check out that Taiwan stamp subject.
I think Daniel got the correct identification with "Asian Pears" which makes sense geographically and culturally.

I have been watching a horizontal pair of this imperf Pakistan orange tree on eBay for quite some time, priced at $450 (or best offer). I decided to do a web search and came across this vertical pair from a British seller which cost 20 pounds including shipping. I think horizontal pairs are intrinsically more attractive, but not $400+ more attractive. That vertical line is from a stock card.
It should be on it's way to me tomorrow.

This gem arrived today:
One of the scarcer orange show advertising covers.
I've come across a second design for this fair but its condition was lacking.

This lovely multi-color advertising cover for a publication called THE SOUTH was waiting for me upon my return from Houston.
The fine print reads JOURNAL OF SOUTHERN & SOUTHWESTERN PROGRESS. No location is given but the scene appears to be antebellum in feel with a steamboat and island scene.
I was unable to to locate that title in an online search. The NEW YORK (CITY) postmark is of no help.

I ordered from Guernsey Post the set of Alderney "UN Year of Fruits and Vegetables" which included an "oranges" stamp. It arrived today. Shipping cost was modest at only 2 pounds.
Overall a rather dull looking set

New issue from New Caledonia featuring a local mandarine variety: The reason there's two stamps is because I figured I would get an extra one for JeffS if he wants it, otherwise, it will be in one my next give-away lots.

I've ordered this sheet of Libya fruit/trees. I see it contains an orange, a grapefruit and a lemon. (The Houston Show 1-frame color competition next year is yellow. I'm tempted but not sure there are enough stamp items to tell a story and fill a frame.)
I first became aware of the orange stamp when I came across this parcel card on Delcampe. I'm staying away from the parcel card due to the 30-euro price tag.

CITRUS QUIZ FOR THE FUN OF IT.
Can someone guess the reason I bought this James Cagney stamp for my Citrus Philately collection?
Was it because 1. James Cagney had an orange grove in the back acre of his Hollywood estate.
2. His favorite party cocktail was the Screwdriver - orange juice and vodka with a dash of cherry juice.
3. Cagney went on a Grapefruit regimen in attempt to lose weight in his later years.
4. He found fresh citrus to be an ideal breakfast dish to serve overnight guests after a night of partying.
5. Or...

The image is on order as well.

Thank you cursus for the Cuba post. I had not looked closely at this stamp before and am surprised to see the emphasis is on grapefruit. And note the use of "pamplemousse", French for grapefruit, is incorporated in the box art. Prior to the breakup of the Soviet countries, these countries were the prime importers of Cuban citrus. reportedly paying three-times market for the product (and others). This stamp dated1982 was nearly a decade prior to the breakup.

A recent addition to my citrus philately, a postage due receipt postmarked at NARANJA FL.
According to an online source:
"The story of Naranja began over 100 years ago in 1904. It was destined to become one of the “railroad towns” along Henry Flagler’s Florida East Coast Railroad. Naranja (Spanish for orange) was so named because of the many orange groves in the area. Some records indicate that a major citrus canker epidemic in 1913 destroyed most of the crops."
I suspect that, from the financial accounting at the top, that is is a receipt for payment of postage on Business Reply Mail items. This will be a welcome addition to my section on Florida citrus.

JeffS, I know you already showed the Samoa Oranges stamp early in this thread ( Incidentally Samoan Oranges have green skins, though the fruit inside is bright orange and sweet eating ) . However the stamp is just one of the 1983 Definitive series of fruits from SAMOA . The three citrus include Lime Grapefruit and Orange ( with green peel)
