Hi JeffS , your page on Clementines has me wondering what I am buying these days at my supermarket . You note clementines are sold as Cuties or Sweeties, I am buying “Easy Peelers” here in UK. They are small sweet and conveniently easy to peel. I suspect Clementines? I see that Chris has nicely answered your question while I was out and about

The "Union A/S Reklamebureau" was a Danish advertising agency. A/S stands for "Aktieselskab" in Danish, which translates to "stock company" or "public limited company" in English. And this company had nothing to do with a trade union...

France recently released a booklet of 12 fruit stamps which included the Mandarin. Thankfully an eBayer was breaking one up saving me the grief.

Today's orange travelogue takes us to the Principality of Monaco. Philatelically the orange pickings are meager with but a single issue in the Four Seasons series of miniature sheets dedicated to specific fruit. I am fortunate to have the two die proofs in brown, the only such I have encountered in my orange searches. I also have the set of four signed die proofs in black which have yet to be incorporated into my collection in a proper place. I have encountered only 3 sets of those.
I am also pleased to have the PPC postmarked 1900.

I can't think of a more iconic example of an Oranges on Stamp than the Pitcairn branch of oranges, and to my mind's eye, this printer's imprint and plate number block is a gem of an example.
It arrived today, purchased from an obscure seller not from the usual venues.

Received today, a PPC from Yugoslavia with a slogan cancel advertising an orange-flavored beverage, PIPI. According to an online source, "Hailing from Croatia's Dalmatia region, Pipi is an orange-flavoured fizzy drink that enjoyed near cult status in the 1980s and 90s. Just the smallest sip takes many Split-natives back to their youth." I like the artwork showing a girl sipping from an orange section through the straw; it's implied message is clear. Examples apparently are not scarce, but clear and full examples are, with those seen being either over- or under-inked. This example is to the under-inked side. I'm looking forward to reworking a page or two to fit it in.

I wasn’t sure I was following you, so I plugged Pipi into a translator. ROTF!

No idea what the meaning of ROTF is. However "Pipi" is by no means a vulgar word. Well-behaved small children and nice old ladies one would expect to use that word.

It means I found it amusing. I guess it depends on how Pipi is pronounced. I took it as Pip-e, not Pee-pee.

What I collect: I collect world wide up to 1965 with several specialty albums added due to volume of material I have acquired. At this point I am focused on Canada and British America. I am always on the lookout for stamps and covers with postmarks from communities in Queens County, Nova Scotia. I do list various goods including stamps occasionally on eBay as hdm50

My effort for the day in the "Where Oranges Grow" section is UGANDA, much better known for it's colorful stamps, gorillas, parks and former despot Imin, than for oranges.

A couple of weeks ago a member friend contacted me about a stamp from Benin featuring oranges. I am unable to find the message or post or recall the sender. I just wanted to show a new acquisition, an imperforate block of 4 of that stamp, a postage due. It is from a series called Les Fruits and is simply described as L'ORANGE. I found my example on my page showing examples of Citrus Aurantium, more commonly known as the bitter orange or the Seville orange, a variety too bitter to eat but great when processed into marmalade. Can someone give me the proper description for the added graphics at the right end of this block. These are often found in the issues of French or French-speaking colonies.

I just got this Japanese sheet celebrating the 60th anniversary of Local Autonomy Law (passed in 1947) in Hiroshima Prefecture, issued in 2013. It contains a lemon stamp. One such sheet of stamps was issued for each prefecture, starting from 2008 to 2016.

HIGHLAND CITY, FLORIDA
I recently purchased the illustrated cover on eBay described as,
US Postal History Food & Drink Orange Grapefruit Pictorial 1987 Highland City FL
Okay, I collect oranges, so I bit.
In searching several online sites I was able to put the following together:
"The modern-day area of Highland City in Polk County was the site of the United State Army's Fort Fraser, established in 1837 during its war with the Seminole Indians. When formed as a town, it’s original name was Haskell, its first postmaster appointed on February 9, 1887. This is noted by the centennial dates of the postmark on this cover. In 1925, Haskell was incorporated and the community's name changed to Highlands (plural) City, changed to Highland (singular) City in 1927. Once a bustling town in the 1950’s, the city followed the citrus industry’s decline in the area. The former Lakeland Highlands Cooperative, once based in Highland City, is no more."
So, Highlands City wasn't a thriving citrus center, but what the heck, the postmark designer thought to include a citrus reference in the cancel.

Today's mail brought 3 additions:
A poster stamp promoting the sale of Mission Orange drink at the New York Worlds Fair,1939.
A window decal appropriately in the design of an orange for Orange County California. (The reverse side provides printed promotional text for Orange County.)
An envelope from a German citrus distributor featuring Maroc Clementines.
