A registered letter with 150th Anniversary of French Revolution airmail stamp, dated 12 Oct 1939. Sent from Brazzaville to USA and although the envelope has air markings, the transit was by surface mail, with a backstamp NY STATION W 15 Dec 1939. The letter rate was 2f25 plus registration fee of 2f50, for a total of 4f75.

An assortment of blocks and strips. The block of Marie Curie stamps, issued in 1938 is very attractive.Used copies of this issue are not that easy to find.

So I notice that both René ( renden ) and I both have two distinct shades of the 10c Rhino stamp... I've been looking through Scott, Michel and Yvert & Tellier, and none of them list multiple shades, and (as often) Scott even list a different release year... I find it odd that they all only list one shade, as my general searches indicate that the two distinct shades both appear to be very common. Anyone have a catalogue that lists them as distinct? Scott: #166, 1946 (deep blue) Michel: #262, 1947 (blue) Y&T: #208, 1947 (blue)

I have Gibbons French Colonies 1st Edition, dated 2016 and there is no mention of different shades, just different perforations. My Dallay 2006 catalogue shows two versions,212 and 212a...bleu-vert au lieu de bleu

Thanks anglobob! Does Dallay give different values for the two versions?

Hello cjoprey 212 catalogue value 0.4 mint unhinged 0.3 for mint hinged and used 212a only has 2 values, 20 euro mint unhinged and 16 euros hinged. No value given for used. I have found different shades with some of the other stamps from this series. There is no mention of these in Gibbons or Dallay.

Some "Afrique Équatoriale Française" from my late dad's old Scott Junior albums. This might be a nice project when I finish Ivory Coast/Côte d'Ivoire classics. Note # 3 damaged and irregular perfs on 48.

YV 224 issued in 1947 on a letter with a slogan cancellation promoting cotton from Oubangui-Chari, sent to a textile company in Paris. YV 235 issued in 1956 on a letter from Brazzaville to the same company.

I am sharing a completed page of French Equatorial Africa which does include the 1937 Paris International Exposition issue s well as the first stamps of a long series of 1937-40, these showing Logging on Loémé River (A1) Sc 33- and People of Chad (A2) Sc 38- As I am doing research (with stamps) of the French Colonies in Africa, this is an ongoing project. F.E.A was a French general government regrouping 4 colonies in Africa between 1910 and 1958, Gabon, Middle Congo, Chad (Tchad) and Oubanqui-Chari (which became Central African Republic). Postal administrations of these 4 territories were separate postally up to 1936, each one issuing its own stamps. Eventually, since I posted Countries of French Africa before, everything will eventually be par of 1 thread. Ivory Coast, Morocco (French) and Togo are completed, the first ones having most of the classic stamps. I wish to mention the great help of Chris Beryllium Guy and Xavier hrdoktorx who provided me with stamps of the Colonies in general. René

Thanks for your post, quandaledingle2947. Do you not have a catalogue in which to look up your stamps? If not, and you would like one, please contact me by PM, and I will try to help you.
