I will end my posts today on some really exciting news. I have been asked by Art UK to be a voluntary specialist for HM Queen portraits.
I am thrilled to have been asked as I have no background or formal qualifications in art.
Its thanks to the positivity on this forum and for your kind comments that has given me the courage to take up the offer. I have never shown my collection to anyone before and am really enjoying showing you so a big thank you.

The NPG produced a set of 20 postcards. and what a lovely set of art cards it is:

Other artists' work included in the NPG set but not shown:

As for words to describe or say something interesting about the imagery, only these words come to mind, " God Save the Queen" Otherwise, the photographs and art work speak for themselves; thanks for showing...
Happy collecting!

Something a bit topical that you might enjoy. This week HM Queen did a talk with the Royal Life Saving Society and talked about her award.. I have found this on my travels. It is a really rare piece of cake that HRH Princess Elizabeth presented to Captain Biscoe who was then Secretary. She would have been 12 years of age. I would not advise eating the cake. My kids think it is disgusting I have this cake. It is sealed very well.

Renden Loved seeing your badges. The first award was awarded to HRH Princess Elizabeth. Really worth watching the zoom call HM Queen and how she spoke of her time over 80 years ago. She was so proud to wear it on her swimsuit.

Response I have had back from the RLSS. So pleased they like it.
"You are correct in that Captain Biscoe was the Chief Secretary of the Society in 1938. I have reviewed the annual reports from that year and there is no mention of the presentation. I can only guess that it was presented to Captain Biscoe as a thank you as he acted as examiner when Princess Elizabeth passed her Intermediate Certificate at the Bath Club that year. I will consult with a few colleagues but it’s unlikely they will be able to shed any further light on this. Will keep you posted if we are able to find out anything further. What an amazing treasure and thank you for bringing it to our attention"

I have recently shown the different covers signed by the bridesmaids of 1947 and the Maids of honour from 1953. After showing them I did a bit more research and came across this Gem of a first day cover for the Queens 60th birthday signed by 5 of the bridesmaids in their married names. It goes really well with the other 5 covers Only Pamela Hicks nee Mountbatten and the Queen are still alive which makes these even more poignant Lady Caroline Montague Scott became Caroline Hicks (passed away 2004) Lady Mary Cambridge became Mary Whitley (passed away 1999) Margaret Elphinstone became Margaret Rhodes (passed away 2016) Lady Elizabeth Lambert became Elizabeth Longman (passed away 2016) I dont think I will ever find covers signed by Princess Margaret (passed away 2002) Princess Alexandra of Kent (passed away 2004) or Diana Bowes Lyon (passed away 1986)

I couldnt find any more first day covers for the coronation Maids of honour but thought you might like to see this. This is genuine material from the coronation dresses with a letter of provenance from(Alice) the head seamstress. This is the box it came in. I bought of Ebay many years ago for £5. I have researched in depth. The manufacturer of the material wanted it for their museum but I couldnt part with this special piece of history so it has stayed in my collection.

To Celebrate the Queens 70th Birthday Antigua and Barbuda issued a June Mendoza stamp In 2002 the Isle of Man issued a similar stamp but I noticed the dress has changed. I contacted June Mendoza and she was impressed I had noticed the change and told me she changed the dress over a weekend as she felt the first dress looked like a dressing gown. All with the Queens permission. June Mendoza kindly introduced me to her photographer and I was able to buy the 2 prints.

In the 2002 isle of Man set there was this stamp. Again I have contacted Terence Cuneo daughter and found out about the history of the portrait. I have been able to buy a signed print.
