Edmund Dulac coronation stamp He died a few days before it was issued. It was the only stamp not based on the Dorothy Wilding portrait. This is the largest block I have found. Unfortunately it is split in the middle but still a lovely lot of stamps.

I bought these two blocks being told they were from the first day of issue. I have no idea if that is true or not. If anyone could tell me if that could be true. I have no machinery or knowledge to identify stamp types. It is written on them they are tutor crown 5th December 1952.

I am really sorry for not being on for so long.
I am still hoping I may be able to show some more of my things. I cant believe its 6 months since I last posted and so much has happened. The most important being the death of HM Queen. I still am struggling to quite believe HM Queen has passed away even a month later. At first I was not sure if I would carry on my collection as I always wanted my collection to celebrate her life. However, I have realised I can still do that and will keep trying.
I would love the opportunity to share some more special items especially those of a stamp nature. Following on from the Portals (De La Rue) find of the Dorothy Wilding portrait I have managed to find other watermarks including that of an artist who had no idea his portrait was made into a water mark. I was able to find him a copy and he was thrilled. I have also heard the sad news that Portals in the UK is stopping in December of this year.
Today I bought a stamp I have tried to find for a very long time and dithered about buying. Once it arrives I will share but it is coming from abroad so may take time. it's what me got thinking about the forum and how special the stamps are to my collection.
I hope you are all keeping well. My daughter did well incredibly well in her A levels and is now settled at University. I still keep plodding on with my course hence the reason I have not posted as my course takes most of my any free time now. The end is in sight in June 2023! Then to the follow up course next September but hoping I can delay it to give me a break!

Hi sarah , That book is a great discovery, those prints are absolutely beautiful. Thanks to you and Chris for finding and showing them. To clarify a couple of points, DeLaRue still exists as a British plc. Their origins date back 200 years. Today they specialise in security printing and tax stamps. They no longer produce postage stamps. Portals dates back over 300 years and started as a paper mill. They were taken over by DeLaRue in 1995 but became independent again in 2018 when they reinstated the name Portals. Today they are banknote and security paper manufacturers. As always, this is a great thread. Best wishes, Daniel Daniel I have found some more amazing Portals watermarks that I can share with you. Unfortunately Portals is closing in December of this year. I found someone who works at Portals.

Hi Sarah, I replied to your message. It appears that Portals are closing one of their two paper mills, the one in Overton, with a loss of 300 jobs. De La Rue, who sold Portals in 2018, had a 10 year deal with them but announced that it was terminating its Relationship Agreement with Portals, see here. It is always very sad to see people losing their jobs. Energy prices are stated as being a major factor in the decision making process. Daniel

The issue dates for your 2 sheets is listed by Gibbons as 5.12.52 so it looks like the dates in the margins are correct. I can't see why someone would pencil in the dates if they were not correct.

In 2013 Royal Mail did a selection of stamps to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the coronation including Richard Stones portrait Richard Stone portrait has been overlooked for many years. The passing of the Queen has brought his picture to the forefront. I was able to let him know he was on TIME and he was able to buy 6 copies off ebay to keep. One day I hope he may be able to sign my copy 🙏

HM Queen sad passing has meant several items I have looked for have finally come up for sale. This one included. This is a thank you letter she wrote as Princess Elizabeth. It was written on the day of her 21st birthday and came from government House Cape Town. I am also awaiting a first day cover but that is coming from abroad. This is now my earliest letter in my collection signed as Elizabeth not Elizabeth R.

Still cannot quite believe we are going to loose the Machin stamp after all these years. This is still one of my favourite first day covers signed by John Hedgecoe who took the original photographs of the Queen and the photograph of the bust.

Lovely to be back. At first I genuinely didn't know if I could carry on collecting once she had passed. However my collection is a celebration of her life through prints, paintings, stamps, coins and different artefacts. I never believed there would be this amount to collect! Even with my collection I am still missing bits. In March next year 2023 there is going to be a talk about the different portraits at Gresham College by Philip Mould. It is via zoom so if you are interested it could be v good.

This is a rare cover with painting barely seen. It's by Jeff Stultiens and signed by him. Only ever seen one other copy which I'd strange as 2000 were made.
