Not a stamp but thought people may be interested. I am waiting for a first day cover of 21st April 1947 that I will show when it arrives. It got me researching her 21st birthday in details. This is an LP of Princess Elizabeth 21st Birthday speech. I cannot play it as don't have a record player but that's just a minor point lol. All profits from the record went to Princess Elizabeth's nominated charities. Unfortunately mine was from eBay and don't think he gave the profits to charity.!

Something historical but still stamp related. Years ago I was able to get a number of items from the Andrew Swanston collection with this being one. There stamps were issued to celebrate the 1954 Australian tour. Andrew Swanston managed to get them signed by Dorothy Wilding. I have many details photographs etc of the Australian tour. The next items are a little bit different. They are the menu and place card settings for the Queen's 1st visit. The dinner occurred on 9th March 1954 at government House Brisbane. These are the original place cards used. They are all embossed. The menu card may not have been typed as it was a small gathering of people. I have googled and the Queen was in this exact place at the time.

It's only when I really started to sort for the exhibition that I realised the true extent of my collection. I apologise if things get shown again. I know many things I haven't seen for yrs because of being stored. This is the v large original John Swannell portrait. It is print 1. It was photographed in 1999 but used in 2000 to celebrate the Queen mother's 100th birthday. The original print is huge.

This is part of the exhibition I put on for the Queen's Platinum Jubilee in my local library. It gives a good over view of the variety of my collection. So many items are intertwined with each other. I curated it on my own and put it up in my own. Never again. I couldn't put alot of the more expensive and treasured pieces out but I hoped it tries to give a reflection of part of my collection. I try and make what I show you as stamp related as possible but wanted you to know that I cover so many other historical things. That looks like an amazing Exhibition. Your local library must have been very proud and happy, as you too must have been. Something very special, thanks for showing it to the group sarah. Londonbus1

I had such good feedback which was nice. I realise though I am quite protective of my collection and it was hard to let it go even for a week. It was great looking in detail at some of the things I haven't seen for ages.

I have been so excited for this portrait to come that I have barely unpacked it tonight before showing you. This portrait is not one of my favourite portraits to look at but the story is so special. The lady who painted this was called Chinwe Chukwuogo Roy. She painted it in 2002. This was the highlight of her career before her life was cut short with cancer in 2012. Her portrait has been used on stamps. It was commissioned in 2001 by the commonwealth secretait to mark the Queen's Golden jubilee. Just before she did the painting her sister died in childbirth. Chinwe flew to Nigeria and adopted the baby that survived. She only returned from Nigeria the week before she was due to go to Buckingham Palace. Her childhood was hard. She was caught in the war in Nigeria and suffered from Myasthenia Gravis and not expected to live. My portrait is an artist proof print that was donated to a silent auction to raise funds for cancer which makes it more poignant. This is now my A P and the letter that came with it. I can now ensure her name as an artist will not be forgotten.

This arrived today to go with the letter and record. The UK never did any stamps or celebration to mark thr celebration of her 21st birthday. This is post marked on the day from Cape Town where she was staying. I am trying to go back through my collection making sure I have moments that were key in her life x

The silver wedding anniversary of 1972 was the first depiction of the Duke of Edinburgh on a British stamp. It was taken by society photographer Norman Parkinson and designed by Jeffrey Matthews. An illustrated souvenir containing the stamps was produced. No special stamp was issued in 1947 for the wedding instead a postmark. This is a photograph of the Royal Family at Harrison and sons and they were interested in seeing the silver stamp being produced. They visited 30th May 1972.

I have been fortunate to have today off work to look through some of the many magazines that have been produced to celebrate the life of HM Queen. I thought you might like to see this article

No post again as RM on strike in the UK. Thought you might want to see some special drawings which make up part of my collection. I have known Richard Stone for many years. He is one of the artists I first bought prints from as I loved his work and felt his talent was underrated. Since the Queen's death his portrait has become a more prominent fixture especially on the BBC. It was issued as a stamp in 2013 celebrating 60 years of the coronation. The portrait has made it to the front of Time Magazine which was produced as a souvenir edition. These are my 2 special drawings. They are number 2 of only an edition of 7.

Don't think I have shown this before. It took many many years to find. It is incredibly rare. Only 250 copies were signed by William Dargie. The portrait has been shown on stamps over the years.

I have had this portrait many years but never realised it was on an Isle of man £5 stamp until reading the recent article from the ILN magazine on stamps.

Another stamp portrait I noticed was from this stamp article. This was commissioned by ILN by Alistair Burford to celebrate the longest reign. This again is a limited edition signed print

The first UK stamp celebrating the Queen's birthday was the 60th birthday stamp. Designed by Jeffrey Matthews Each stamp is divided into 3 sections, one for each decade of her life. The Royal mail produced a special commemorative booklet The next pictures are of a special Benham Ltd edition of 2500. I really like these cards.

This is a great Jeffrey Matthews designed stamp and stamp cover signed by the man himself. It depicts the heads of Queen Victoria and Queen Elizabeth.
