Hello to all of you.
My name is Henry.
I repair TVs for a living. All electronics, actually, but TVs have been my bread and butter for many many years. (38 as of last May).
I collected stamps as a kid, and now that I am trying to figure out what all I have.

Thanks guys, it's good to be here/
Stan, while I try to discern color variations, most of the time I can't tell rose from carmen to some of the other reddish variations. I look forward to getting some insight on how to tell colors apart.

I look forward to getting some insight on how to tell colors apart. I squint a lot! LOL and a good full spectrum 10K light is very helpful! it is somewhat subjective and many of the shades are ...subtle... quite subtle, but when viewed side by side it seems easier to see the variations

Welcome to TSF, Henry ( henrye)! Thanks for a nice intro. I hope that you will be able to find a satisfying result in your quest to identify color-shade varieties. It is a challenging area, in my opinion, because as Stan ( stainlessb) points out, there is some subjectivity involved. Stamps can also change color for various reasons, which can also make it interesting.... but who doesn't like a challenge now and then? Anyway, welcome again and enjoy your time with us! -Chris ( Beryllium Guy)

Welcome from the UK Henry ( henrye) - finding color variations is one of the harder things, but you will find a lot of people happy to help here, as well as some great threads on the subject.

Thanks for the welcome.
I look forward to learning more about varieties, and will post an image of the stamp that led me to the forum here, in the general discussion area.
I just have to do a little cropping and resizing first,

I do not know (yet) how deep you are into specializing......varieties is a sub-specialty and not many people seem to go into it....I know my friend Stan stainlessb in Sacramento (California) lives "varieties" as well as a few other members. I can tell you that when I started FRANCE, I did go into varieties/shades/colors etc and it is real "work" but fun !! Now I need "winter motivation" to re-do my Small Queens (Canada) - Wish the same for you René
