I hit refresh to see if there had been a reply to a post I made in the US classics topic area, but the entire post was gone?
Is there a fast way of finding where it got moved to? Short of opening every other topic area to look.

In front of my eyes, yes. Visible to me, no. LOL.
I see where my post has been appended to the other grill discussion but even so, I'm not sure what a 'tag' is. Where do you looked to see if you have received one?

OK, glad that you found your posts in the new thread. This is a tag: henryeIt is normally done to notify another member to check a particular post, either because it is of interest or because they should respond If you go to your profile settings, you should be able to activate receiving notifications when you are tagged. Personally, I get an email notification every time someone tags me.

I'm not sure what a 'tag' is. Where do you looked to see if you have received one? As Chris mentioned, it depends on how your Profile is set up as far as your notifications are concerned. You can be notified for a number of different things, and a counter will appear at the top of your screen next to the "Profile" choice in the menu bar (similarly, if you get a private message, a counter appears next to your "Message" choice). If you click directly on that counter number, you are taken to a list of notifications you have received since you were last looking at the forum. To look and edit at your profile, you can click on the menu bar "Profile" choice (or, alternatively, click directly on your user name, wherever it appears anywhere in the forum). Once you're in your profile section, choose "Edit Profile" to start changing things. Note that I've changed my window size so these screen captures aren't so wide as they would normally be. This also gives you a second way of looking at your list of notifications - after opening your Profile, one of the tab choices is for your notifications (likes received, quotes of your previous posts used by somebody else, tags, etc.) When you're editing your profile, it will start you with a look at your Avatar section (that's the little picture that goes with your account - in my case, the zero and the maple leaf on a pseudo-stamp). Click on the "Notifications" button to edit how you deal with any notifications. And then you will see a long list of activities you might (or might not) want to deal with. The little check mark is for choosing whether or not your notification counter is increased - the Email drop down list lets you decide if you want any further notification by e-mail. As Chris says, he gets an e-mail every time he's tagged - I have that turned off on my account and I only receive e-mails when a private message is received. Ryan

I've seen it in others' posts, but have never spent the time looking for the way to do it myself (assuming I can at all, right?)

Anyone can tag another member. Type the "@" before typing their display name. For most members, their username is the same as their display name. What you see for each person's post is their display name, not their username.
Please note their username may not be the same as their display name. For example, the member with display name WERT actually has the username wertwert. So to tag him, you would have to type "@" followed by wertwert -- you can't simply type "@" followed by a single wert. There's a reason some members do this, each person has their own reason and I respect that.
When the tagging doesn't work (i.e., you don't get their display name underlined), that usually means their display name is not the same as their username.
To find out their username, you can either go to their profile page, or if you hover your cursor above their display name, their proper tagging username will appear. You can try that by hovering the cursor over my display name "khj" for this post -- you will find my username and display name are the same.
Another example in this thread would be "Beryllium Guy". That is his display name. To tag him, you have remove the space and type "@" followed by "berylliumguy". Tagging is not case sensitive, as far as I know. This would be an example of where adding a space in the display name makes the alias more "readable". Normally, a space is not allowed in the username, but you can add spaces to your display name.

Also note that sometimes a member changes his display name. So if that happens, using the menu bar icon in the message pane will give the correct tagging name. Otherwise you are left with just text for the name with an "@" before it.
