Reads like assembly instructions for the swing set.Eleven piles of one value multiplied by the number of values in the set and that's just the engraving.Oh my and I was going to start tackling them later today.

I am presently going through an old lot. Must have been quite the collector as I've found some that leave me puzzled. This was the lot(s) that contained numerous imperf singles some look good to me.On these older issues you must flyspeck a bit as re-entries are numerous. Also must be watermarked for stitch watermark which can turn a 20 cent stamp into a $300 stamp. Many in this bunch have notes on the back which have been very helpful.I gave up for the night when I ran into coils that don't exist.I'll scan some of the better finds tomorrow and also be looking for help with at least these mystery coils.Again people looked past these ordinary run of the mill looking stamps and allowed me to get them really cheap.Postage was almost as much as the stamps and every lot so far has yielded couple nice surprises with good CV.

As far as I know the Edwards were issued in a couple different experimental coil formats. All the experimental coils illustrated in the Unitrade have the triangle shaped notches between each stamp. The 'Type III' in Unitrade has the notches and is perf'ed between the stamps, but the perf appears wider more like a perf 8, the actual measurement isn't listed. You never cease to amaze with your odd specimens Frog.

I have been thinking of displaying my stuff one page at a time much as Mitch used to do with his stuff but,I'm afraid much of it still needs work.Seems as fast as I finish a page I find more to add and many of my early pages are sadly waiting for my time.I just added a couple more 17's and an 18 whose size alone says to me it's a true imperf(found in a veeerrry old collection along with some more large queens)Speaking of which they too are again crowded and need re-mounting.I haven't even begun to go any further than moving a few small queens many of them also need attention mostly to perf gauge.I have recently moved every thing after 1939-1950 to a new volume two which worked out cause it was just added another volume without moving anything further, however I have added so much that I fear the cut off will move back to 1936. That may involve moving everything in the following nine volumes which becomes a problem as my table is still full of admirals and piles of loose mounts as well as new arrivals.Anyone want to come play with this project??I'll feed you but you may be here quite awhile.

Thanks Rod,nice site I have bookmarked. My thinking was the perfect placement, what are the odds a hammer strike would be that perfect? As most know my concern is finding what I like and this happens to be one of those.I am not a purist in any manner and my concerns are seldom $cv or expertising material rather I spent my t&m gathering more stuff I like.

Rod, on your card, I think you can measure the "POST CARD. - CARTE POSTALE" line for the 63- or 69mm measurement. Give it a try. (Looks like 63 to me.) Here is my best-centered New Brunswick, by far. I picked it up a few months back, but I don't think I've posted it here yet:

I have a vast amount of material, and the non-stamp stuff, gets popped into Polypropolene pouches, then dropped into a cartons called "scanned covers" I've had a quick scurry through the bulk, and cannot see it.

Yes, our Steve is switched on, however, may that just be a coincidence? do both scans have to be the same dpi to be accurate? It's early, not sure if I can tackle that problem.

I think once he knew the width of the piece and matched that, we're good to go thereafter.

Not sure where info was gathered but THANKS I learned something from it.Wish Unitrade had included explanation. Now if only my sieve of a brain would retain it.With winter coming fast I plan on starting from page one and re-doing pages that are getting out of space. It may take til spring and thanks to Ryan I have some xmas seals as a diversion from monotony. If things go well I'll start posting this collection page by page for your viewing enjoyment.

I just picked this up at the Sno-King annual stamp show in Everett Wa. It was a bit pricey but it is nicely centered and very lightly hinged. I still have the $1, $2, $3, $4, and $5 issues to get, but I am not sure that will ever happen. hmmm, how do those perfs on the right look?? Theron.

hmmm, how do those perfs on the right look?? Off the top of my head, I've never seen an 1897 Jubilee stamp with straight edges - I think all of them were issued in sheets that looked like this one with a margin on every side (image nabbed from an auction site). So, if there are no straight edges, there would be no worries about re-perfing. Ryan

Someone posted an official seal recently, and I can't find the thread, so I'll put my new OX3 here, Queen Victoria Dead Letter Office. This one wasn't used, so it is not folded and still has its gum. Sorry in advance for the large file size. I usually keep them much smaller, but...

How does one pronounce John Cabot ? Depends on where you're from and where you are! Like Christopher Columbus' name, exonyms are used for many non-native languages. Cabot (here in English-speaking Canada, we say CABBut) was Italian, but there were different forms of his name for many different languages. Years ago, we used to get minute-long history education spots during commercial breaks on TV. America allows for more advertising minutes per hour than Canada does, so the extra time would be filled up by things like this (Canadians of a certain age will remember our Hinterland Who's Who nature education spots with pride). Here was the spot for John Cabot - the actor here uses the Italian form of his last name, Caboto. The mildly implied irony here is that we've decimated the Grand Banks cod stocks to the point where commercial fishing was banned in 1992, and we haven't quite yet reached the "end of time" ... Ryan

Thanks Ryan, I have used Cab boe for years, don't know why, possibly because it has 1 "b" ? I was in a shop a few weeks back buying some "Cabot's deck stain" The girl called it Cab bot's, I said, "don't you pronounce it Cab-boe?" and she looked at me quizzically Reading "Europe and a wider world 1415-1715" by J H Parry The Grand Banks Cod, were quoted as so abundant, one could almost walk across water, on them. (or similar) There would be upward of 36 tall ships at anchor, during the season. The sea was alive with them. One of Cabot's ship's company, had been a Portuguese, one Fernandes, nicknamed "The Labrador" ("The Farmer") and it was he, who gave his name to first Greenland, and then to the territory now called Labrador.

Pro tip...if you want to know how a company pronounces its name, check out its YouTube uploads. In the old days, you had to call headquarters (and hope it wasn't the receptionist's first day).
Cabot uses CAB-it. (I've occasionally heard it pronounced ku-BOTT.)

Hey cjd! I think John Cabot's youtube ran literally from the wheel house, through the floor and down to the lower decks! Hi tech through the deck. ...and with that, I'll post this classic classy lady I picked up last weekend. A 37b with fancy cancel and postmarked in 1887 (late usage?) on a homemade newspaper wrapper.

I should have known......... I used Cabot's decking oil for my new Jarrah Window and architrave. Here is the Aussie advert, there's a double entendre at the end.
