Great thread stanley64 ! Yes, it is the time to start thinking about getting out a bit more. With that in mind, I am tentatively planning a first trip in almost two years for September. I want to get to as many events as possible to make up for lost time. It is, after all, the best atmosphere there is ! September 2021. Hampex, Fareham. Saturday 25th September. www.hantsfederation.org.uk/hpfhpx.htmStampex, BDC, London. September 29th-October 2nd. www.abps.org.uk/event/autumn-stampex-international-2021/Cinderella Stamp Club Auction, RPSL, Abchurch Lane, London. Saturday 2nd October. (Sadly, the CSC website has not been updated in a while so no link available) South of England Stamp & Postcard Fair, Norfolk Pavilion, Ardingly Showground, Ardingly. Saturday 9th October. This event is organized by the ASPS. The venue is terrific having been there previously for an antique fair. Plenty of other events are scheduled in and around London, and elsewhere (including Oxford, Charing X and Mark's Tey !!), and hopefully the pandemic would have calmed down a little to allow those, and all of the above, to go ahead. It could be a nice 'Philatelic' autumn !! Londonbus1

Autumn Stampex 2021 Business Design Centre, LondonDuring my visit with Alex ( vikingeck), he reminded me that the Autumn Stampex is still due to happen as an in-person event in London, from Wed-29-Sep through Sat-02-Oct. Ironically, now that Alex has sparked my interest in attending the event, it seems unlikely that he will be able to attend after all. So, I wanted to take this opportunity to mention the event here, and to see if any other members would be interested in having a meet-up on any of the days? I am imagining that those most likely to attend would be members living in the UK, but of course, anyone who can travel could also potentially make it. Details about the event can be found here: www.abps.org.uk/event/autumn-stampex-international-2021/Just to see if I can spark a little interest, I will tag some members that I can recall that live in the UK or might be able to travel: Londonbus1stanley64radiocruncherthegubmanwakeybluenosemichael@dazrich cjopreysarahThese are only some names that I could come up with off the top of my head, so by all means, please tag other members who could be interested. For my part, I would like to go for a couple of days, but it would be even more enticing if any other members are thinking to come. So, if you are interested in attending and having a meet-up, please reply with a post, and please mention which day(s) you would be thinking to come.

Yeah! having had my YORK Show treat cancelled due to Covid, I was hoping to be able to go to Stampex and talked it over with Chris Beryllium Guy last week. Meantime I have just had word of possible (long delayed) surgery on my worn out Knee. It is likely when it happens that I will have mobility problems for some weeks after recovery, so trailing round a show on concrete floors and with stairs between levels, over a couple of days is just not on, I am afraid. What is worse, there are at least three stamp contacts who owe me a pint at the Steam Passage Tavern, next door to the Design Centre in Islington!

I really want to go but despite being double jabbed, I'm still being very careful. Haven't been on public transport since the start of the pandemic so not sure if I want the bus and 50 minute tube journey from my daughter's location in South London.
I'm seeing how things go in the next few weeks and also waiting for the dealer list. I'm guessing it's going to be fewer dealers than in recent years.
It would be a Friday if I did go.

Flight tickets at the moment to London are the lowest I have seen but I am unable to attend the show.I am fully vaccinated but Ecuador is still considered to be a high-risk country so I would have to spend most of my stamp budget on quarantine. I have a dealer friend in UK and he told me a lot of dealers are waiting for the London 2022 show next February when hopefully things will have improved even more.I also took a look at the dealers attending the September show and so far, there does not appear to be as many dealers as in previous shows.

After a hiatus last year because of the health restrictions (at least in my local area), the "Fête du Timbre" is back in France and planned for the week-end of 25-26 September. Many locations will participate, a full listing can be found at: www.ffap.net/Evenements/fdt.php?a=2021&t=0 . There are three locations within easy driving distance for me, still deciding which one(s) I may attend.

I'm still waiting for the full stand holder list. The website is currently listing only 26 dealers against the usual 60+. However, known dealers who according to their websites are attending, like Stanley Gibbons and BB Stamps are not on the list? www.stampexinternational.co.uk/exhibitors.html

Well, I am now wondering what my plan for the Stampex in London should be, if any. I completely understand that members are hesitant to attend. I am a bit hesitant myself, but still thinking about it. I think that if 3-4 could agree to go for it, then I would also be in, just to meet all of you even more than shopping for stamps! If I am going to go, I would like to decide within the next week, so if anyone else has made up their mind, please post your plans here! If we can get even a small group, I think I would be inclined to do it, but now most likely just on the Saturday, 2nd October. Thanks for the reminder, Michael ( Londonbus1), about the need to register. If it looks like I will be going, I will be sure to do it!

Autumn Stampex 2021, London Business Design Centre Anyone Planning to Attend?Well, I think it's time to see if anyone else's plans have firmed up with regards to the Stampex.... decisions? We already know that Alex ( vikingeck ) and Chris ( cjoprey ) will not be able to come, and Michael ( Londonbus1 ) and Vince ( stanley64 ) will not be travelling, so who are the other likely candidates? radiocruncher thegubman wakeybluenose michael daniel @dazrich sarah I am sure I am forgetting other UK members, so please feel free to jump in and tag someone, if you have an additional thought. As it happens, I have slightly cooled a bit to the event myself. I am still planning to come to London for the day, Sat-02-Oct, but I am thinking to spend the morning at the Charing Cross Market, where I met a dealer who is saving at least one particularly nice item for my return, and I don't want to miss out. That said, I could still make my way to somewhere near the Business Design Centre, if anyone would like to meet up for lunch or a drink or something. On Sun-03-Oct, I will now be going to Basingstoke, where the British West Indies Study Circle (BWISC) will be having its annual convention and exhibition. This is a group that I mentioned in my TSF Newsletter article about London. I learned about it from a friend that I met at Charing Cross, and I later signed up. I am told that it will be a smaller event than usual this year, but I thought that I should make the effort to go and meet some of the members and see what it's all about. All right, so if anyone is planning to come to London on Sat-02-Oct, and you would like to meet up, please make a post here, and we can discuss by PM.

So today I went to the Fête du Timbre. I chose to go to the Pertuis (Vaucluse) location, some 30 kms west of my village. It's a town I know somewhat, but not very well. That morning, we had torrential rains in the area and the road I intended to take was flooded, so I had to do a detour and took quite some time to find the place and a parking spot. But I made it in the end. It was a small happening, a few exhibits and three dealer tables. Sparsely attended, which did mean that I could have the dealers full attention. I spent my allotted budget on a lot of nice pieces, several of which you should expect to see posted in the coming days. I wore my mask with the France YT#3 stamp picture on it, which was appreciated by many on location, even someone took my picture with it.

For UK members. The Salisbury Stamp Fair is back. It's on Friday 15th and Saturday 16th October at the Five Rivers Leisure Centre. There are 47 dealers and it's a good venue, free parking (3 hours) and plenty of places for a chat/coffee. I tend to spend more money here than I do at Stampex.

Great to hear, Alex ( vikingeck)! I wish you safe travels and good findings at the show. I hope that you will meet up again with Sumit ( historyphila) and perhaps have a nice dinner at Delrio's. Man, I wish I could be there, but Amy and I are still hoping for a return visit in the July edition of this show. Good luck and have fun!

My train takes 5 hrs so I have an overnight hotel. cjoprey, east anglia is not impossible as I will meet a friend from Kings Lynn .
