What I collect: I collect world wide up to 1965 with several specialty albums added due to volume of material I have acquired. At this point I am focused on Canada and British America. I am always on the lookout for stamps and covers with postmarks from communities in Queens County, Nova Scotia. I do list various goods including stamps occasionally on eBay as hdm50

Here are a few Bhopal back of the book triangles from the late 1930’s early 1940’s era.

What I collect: Worldwide - Stamps and Postmarks - not enough time...

I completely agree, Alex ( vikingeck )! Bisects absolutely need to be collected on cover or at least on piece. I acquired a bisect from Belgium while I was living in France (2018-2019), and it was also on piece, although I believe that it was a philatelic creation rather than a genuine postal use. I note well your assertion from some time ago that "postal history is more than just stamp collecting" and I think it is certainly true. Having a stamp tied onto a cover goes a long way to prove its genuine condition at the time of its use. I definetively agree a bisect must be on cover or a piece. Unfortunately even having a stamp tied onto a cover doesn't prove authentic postal usage My brother barbu found several identical envelopes with DWI bisects tied on covers, all of them sealed and unopened, but without contents. I received one of them, here it is: It was quite ovious that these were simply fabricated, - typical examples of 'philatelic creations', as you rightfully called them Chris I am suspicious that quite a lot of bisects around are philatelic creations just like my DWI example, most likely my piece from Funchal was produced in a similar fashion

The last one of my 5 types of Cape Triangles the "WOODBLOCK" This looks like a crude forgery but in fact it is one of the more expensive Cape of Good Hope stamps . and comes with a Cert from the Royal Philatelic Society London. In 1861, When the Colony ran out of stamps from the London Printer, locally produced plates were engraved to produce a rough approximation of the Perkins Bacon design.

As a youngster I received stamps in boxes of 5000 from England. They cost 5 Pfennig each, but offered generous discounts for larger buys.P.R.o.China reprints were plentiful in that boxes.I found them very attractive and took quite a lot of them. In the meantime they command quite good catalogue prices. But back to the "triangles":
Issued Oct.10th,1985.

The Cape triangles were printed by Perkins, Bacon & Co. Ltd. These are the last triangle stamps to be printed by that company in 1936.

JeffS....For our info: in 1965 (stamp shown), smallpox was not yet eradicated - Yes, an important medical topic - Thanks !! In 1959, the World Health Organization (WHO) started a plan to rid the world of smallpox. Unfortunately, this global eradication campaign suffered from a lack of funds, personnel, and commitment from countries, and a shortage of vaccine donations. Despite their best efforts, smallpox was still widespread in 1966, causing regular outbreaks across South America, Africa, and Asia.
The Intensified Eradication Program began in 1967 with a promise of renewed efforts. Laboratories in many countries where smallpox occurred regularly were able to produce more, higher-quality freeze-dried vaccine. Other factors that played an important role in the success of the intensified efforts included the development of the bifurcated needle, the establishment of a case surveillance system, and mass vaccination campaigns.
By the time the Intensified Eradication Program began in 1967, smallpox was already eliminated in North America (1952) and Europe (1953). Cases were still occurring in South America, Asia, and Africa (smallpox was never widespread in Australia). The Program made steady progress toward ridding the world of this disease, and by 1971 smallpox was eradicated from South America, followed by Asia (1975), and finally Africa (1977). (CDC)

What a great subject for a thematic collection. My Spidey philatelic senses had me all a quiver, but I have waaay too many projects going
EDIT- just in the small, really small case that someone would like to venture forth, here is a link to a site for collectors who are dedicated to the collecting of MALARI philately. www.malariastamps.com/mpi/index.asp

This is a great thread, with huge (unprecedented?) activity and a very high level of participation. Thanks to Chris for the idea! I guess we all like triangle stamps. My quick count suggests with 80+ posts already, from 29 different members in just 3 days, it’s been one of the most popular topics ! Many thanks for your kind comments, Alex. I will admit that I have been surprised by the extent of the response, and I really appreciate all of the contributions.... thanks to every member who has made a post, and to all of you who have made several posts! I have really been enjoying it, and I am glad that my simple suggestion could lead to all of this. Alex, I have very much appreciated your Cape triangles: block of four 4-pence blue, and a woodblock, too.... wow! Thank you so much for sharing those with all of us.

Indeed, what a fun thread! Thanks Chris ( Beryllium Guy ) for kicking off the story and my applause to all of those that contributed :-)
My own contribution is a single pair from the 1971 USSR set featuring the Soviet Motor Industry. This one depicting the 'Zaporozhets' is one my favourites,
Auto Zaporozhets "ZAZ-968"
Other vehicles in the series (Michel n.º 3878-82) include: 2 kopek - Truck "GAZ-66" 3 kopek - Truck "BelAZ-540" 4 kopek - "Moskvich-412" 4 kopek - "Zaporozhets" ZAZ-968 (shown)
10 kopek - "Volga GAZ-24"
all of which are in the triangle format...
Happy collecting!
