If I sold stamps, I wouldn't use my special interest and inherited postcards as stiffeners. In fact, I bought a few albums dedicated to these unused cards.

Received this comic Christmas card as a stiffener in today's mail. It covered the 906 prison stamp club cover Rod tipped me about. Cute!! Unused, I may use it this coming Christmas, if I can find it then.

Received the scanned "stiffener" today protecting a couple of Machin stamps. It's another (part of) a Royal Mail PHQ card Art in the 20th Century issued 11th May 1993. Printed by White Dove Press.

2 "stiffeners" received today (11 p.m. last night actually) I forgot to check for my mail yesterday. Nothing special just blank cardboard strips protecting a bar-code booklet.

Another mailing stiffener today protecting a bar-code booklet. Not very "stiff", in fact pretty flexible but it did the job. It is a page from The Financial Times Prestige booklet SG DX9 which was issued by Royal Mail in 1988.

This stiffened (barely) the latest addition to my Iwo Jima collection. I'm sure that the seller received it in the mail, rather than pilfered it from his local post office.

A couple of mailing stiffeners received this week protecting some Machin blocks I received. The Kellogs one seems to be popular these days.

Manila cards are not unusual as a stiffener but like many it tested positive for being acidic. The X mark should be purple to pass test. The catalog numbers (old since it has Minkus numbers!!) did not match the stamps received so obvious reused.. I would worry more about manila and dealer approval cards than album page paper for acidity.

Another couple of stiffeners received today protecting some more Machins. The black one is a Hagner "mount" with a thoughtful message attached. I wonder if the scales were used to determine the weight of the package. LOL.

One of the 'stiffeners' today wasn't much of a stiffiner ... just a pieced of paper. But, it was interesting. Looks like a template for a junior high school lesson plan for a class in optics or physics. (or maybe film studies - smile). Do you think a light-sabre is 'realistic'? More to the point, does it really matter? It's a fictional adventure. Let's all suspend our disbelief and eat some popcorn.

Here is a stiffener that was used for a recent purchase,
From a professional dealer, I would not expect anything less...
Have fun and happy collecting!
P.S. Additionally, a paid invoice was included :-)

Received this week from a recent purchase; a thank card as the stiffener,
Along with the card's sentiment (let us not forget our manners), there was no additional writing and hence, the card can be re-used...
Have fun and happy collecting!

Today's mail brought a First Day Cover related to my War Savings stamp collection. The stiffener used was a trifolded piece of 8½x11" card stock on which was printed a thank you, the seller's advertising and an application for membership in the American FDC Society.

Two pieces of plywood were used for a sheet of Cinderella stamps sent from America. Now that's a real mail stiffener!
