Included in a collection. The multiples were not stored well. The larger pane is folded so larger.

the foxing is unfortunate - with paper it can be shifted using a commercial grade of Hydrogen Peroxide, which should be diluted in a ration of 1:1 or more, though no idea how it might affect printing inks - trial and error I suppose using just one stamp. Afterwards the paper must be washed in a solution of Calcium Hydroxide mixed in distilled water - probably not worth the effort with low value items, but worth it possibly for higher value jobs.

renden - your Canadian block above - are those the ones that were sold in the plastic bags? I do not know, Terri but Bileski (late Kasimir) wrote ++++ about this ( lost copy of his analysis) but it is a keeper !! BTW my late dad had bought a beautiful Seaway Inverted, based on contacts with him - however, not the seller - Gary Lyon Stamps out of Bathurst, New Brunswick (10,000.00$)....I sold it for $15,000.00 René Kasimir Bileski was a Canadian philatelist and stamp dealer based in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. He is best known for his discovery and promotion of the famous "Seaway Inverted" stamps of 1959. He was also involved in the holding of many of Canada's rare stamps, and wrote widely on philatelic issues. Wikipedia

What I collect: I collect world wide up to 1965 with several specialty albums added due to volume of material I have acquired. At this point I am focused on Canada and British America. I am always on the lookout for stamps and covers with postmarks from communities in Queens County, Nova Scotia. I do list various goods including stamps occasionally on eBay as hdm50

My largest block yet of the Portuguese Ceres,
1914 MOZAMBIQUE - 2 c. Carmim 15 x 14 (Acetinado Espesso, Pontinhado Horizontal)
These larger sheet fragments are invaluable for the plating efforts of both known and non-catalogued clichés...
Have fun and happy collecting

these came in the other day as part of an auction win .... does anyone know please what 'Briefpost' means - are they real stamps? They appear to be part of the French 'Arms' series, of which I have many, but these don't include the word 'Postes' - every time I see that word Arms, I think of ordnance. Might these have anything to do with Saar? I'll keep the additional information together with this original post - attached extra picture shows the complete group of stamps as received from the auction

thanks for the quick reply drblade - much appreciated - that's certainly a very interesting link. As per usual I fired off a tad too quick, and having seen your reply the penny has now dropped and I can see there is more than one value for a given design. Some time later this evening I'll put brain in gear and re-post this subject and show the other stamps, which do appear to be related. thanks again.

Briefpost = letter-mail The series was for the parts of Germany under french occupation after WW II. The coat of arms are those for the Rhineland,Palatine,Württemberg,Baden and the Saar. The Reichsmark-values of that set show the german poets Goethe,Schiller and Heine.
The series was replaced by seperate issues for Baden,Württemberg,Rhineland-Palatine and Saar in 1947. It remained valid for postage till the introduction of the Deutsche Mark in June 1948, except for the Saar, where the French Franc replaced the Reichsmark in November 1947.

We've all seen incoming covers with lots of blocks of older stamps as postage (usually if not always coming from stamp dealers and/or other collectors). Here's one of the more notable examples that's turned up in my mailbox recently. I count $2.07, which, if I'm calculating correctly, is exactly right for a large envelope weighing four ounces. Not bad!

If Michel is correct, this bloc of 6 (japanese occupation of Neg(e)ri Sembilan,Malaya) is an unicum: only one sheet of 100 stamps was overprinted. Therefore it is my rarest stamp, but nevertheless of very moderate value.
Issued April 3rd,1942.
