WEEKEND CHALLENGE! Answer posted tomorrow - let’s see how many answers we can get!
Today’s Mystery Stamp Identification Challenge - let’s see how many folks can identify this one. Good luck!
This issues has variants - naming the major type is a sufficient answer.
I sure wish all of my stamps from this series had this superb quality. I call this series the “Hockey Stars” stamps because so many of them are missing teeth! Groan - bad joke, eh?

Well this was Marianne day on The Stamp Forum! Delightful! Anyone who had hoped to be able to enter the prize drawing was given plenty of hints - and that’s a good thing. No matter how new the collector, everyone had a chance. Nice!
Yes - this was France Marianne — as hrdoktorx wrote; Marianne is to France what Uncle Sam is to the US, the human personification of the country's spirit.
all the various catalog numbers are here on this link provided by djcmh who wrote;
It's the Marianne of Gandon
colnect.com/en/stamps/stamp/26355-Marianne_type_Gandon_type_1-Marianne-France
Perfect timing for this, as today LaPoste introduced a new Marianne definitive type : Marianne of the Future by Balez. See my post Here : thestampforum.boards.net/thread/7270/france-marianne-definitives?page=5

The Daily Mystery Stamp Identification Challenge - LAST CHANCE TO ENTER THE PRIZE DRAWING!
Good luck, Sherlocks!
FYI - This has been a lot of fun, but it does generate a large number of posts on the board. It has launched some interesting discussions about various issues, but it isn’t our standard fare. To ensure that this is a welcome addition and not an annoyance, I thought that it would be courteous to start a poll to let the members decide if they would like this to continue as a regular feature. click here to vote;

Today’s Mystery Stamp is a more advanced challenge and was provided by anglobob . Bob says that this is a wrapper of sorts open at both ends. Is it an overprint? A cancel? Stationery? Anyone who can provide any information at all about this item will get a credit. GOOD LUCK SHERLOCKS!

Excellent work, Sherlocks! salentin provided this excellent information; “It is a wrapper indeed. The cancel,a private cancel, was applied by the "Deutsch-Österreichischen-Alpenverein" (German-Austrian-Alps-Club) what is for promoting walking the mountains. The cancel implies, that it was for sending the monthly club-news of August 1914.(the month the Great War started)
I cannot find the tariffs for news-paper-wrappers of that time, but as Germany and Austria were considered as inland, the wrapper was sufficient for the whloe of Germany/Austria. It was not before 1918,that the enemy-powers were doing almost everything to prevent the unification of Austria and Germany. So I am not really sure whether the Alpenverein is still for both states,or separated now.”

Today’s Mystery Stamp!
Yesterday’s stamp was a real toughie so today we have a stamp listed in all the major catalogs. EVERY collector has probably held this stamp in their tongs so the real challenge here is how fast can you find the catalog number and how many will participate? Our best number of correct answers so far was 8 - can we get 9? You can do it! Ready, set, find that catalog number!
Good luck, Sherlocks!

Well that was a real toughie! Only three responses to the weekend mystery stamp identification challenge.
Hugh hdm1950 wrote; I do not have a catalogue number but this Denmark revenue stamp with the overprint was in use on imported playing cards from around 1942 to 1949. www.endebrock.de/stamps/st-dk.html
jaysee , Jill, wrote; This latest mystery stamp is a Playing-card tax stamp from Denmark. With the 2 Kr. overprint in use c. 1942-49. You can see the original versions and the overprint on this site: (same link as above)
And Alex, vikingeck deduced; The Three lions and the Hearts are characteristic of the Kingdom of Denmark . The currency is Kroner. Not postage so therefore a tax stamp of some kind , but not one I have seen in my Denmark collecting days . I guess from the 4 corner motifs it is a tax on playingcards.
Impressive work from three of our top sleuths!

Today’s Mystery Stamp is easier than yesterday’s, whew! Good luck Sherlocks! These little stamps seemed to show up in many of the worldwide mixes I sifted through when I was a worldwide collector and were printed in the millions. What country issued these and can you find a catalog number? There will be no Challenge on Thursday- American Thanksgiving. I’ll be very busy early in the morning getting the Turkey in the oven.

The Sherlocks identified yesterdays mystery stamp with ease!
Dale, Statesman Stamper , was first to respond and wrote; Today's mystery stamp is a postal tax stamp issued by Colombia, Scott RA24, Michel 30 (two shades listed by Michel, dark yellowish green and dark green). The stamp is one of several series showing the Ministry of Posts and Telegraphs building. While not as voluminous as the Spanish Franco issues, these little guys still show up quite a lot in worldwide off paper mixtures.
djcmh also supplied the Colnect link and noted that there are varieties; colnect.com/en/stamps/list/variant/342989/emission/8-Postal_Tax

Today’s Mystery Stamp is a toughie! It’s so obscure that I’m going to give you TWO options. You’ll earn one credit in the prize drawing for each correct answer. I will be busy tomorrow wrestling with a 15 pound turkey 🦃 and a house full of family, so the answers won’t be posted until Friday. Thanks for your patience!
Have fun and 🍀Good Luck!🍀

I’m impressed! Our Sherlocks did it again!
The stamp portraying the elusive one elim coin from Ankh Morpork was correctly identified by several Discworld aficionados.
daniel wrote; Today's Mystery Stamp is from Terry Pratchett's Discworld. Specifically, it is for Ankh Morpork and the stamp value is 1 Elim. Discworld Catalogue no. SHS-AM0277-Aw, issued 5th May 2012.
A few others did recognize that this Cinderella was from the Discworld universe. rednaxela wrote; The first stamp comes from far, far away... namely from Terry Pratchett's Discworld, published in Common Year 2012, which, as everyone knows, was the Year of the Second Inception. The abbreviation A. M. implies that it is an issue of the ANKH-MORPORK post office
anglobob rednaxela jaysee Statesman Stamper cjoprey
SECOND STAMP; wakeybluenose wrote the second one is from my home country: SG IE546 from the 1982 Irish Architecture definitive series.
rednaxela added; The second stamp comes from Ireland and is from a definitive stamp series on Irish architecture. It was issued at the end of 1982 and shows the Oratory (from the 6th Century) on St. MacDara Island. The catalog numbers are: Scott # 551, SG 546 and Michel 498.

Wow - yesterday’s mystery stamp yielded quite a few comments that this is an absolutely beautiful stamp issue. So true!
Beryllium Guy wrote; This stamp is from Obock, a former French colony on the Gulf of Aden on the northeastern coast of Africa. They only had stamps issued from 1892-1894, being superseded first by Djibouti and later by Somali Coast. This example is Obock, Sc50, 10c black and green. Since you asked, it is printed on quadrille paper, but thanks to its slightly transparent nature, I have wondered if it might also be classified as pelure, but I am not sure about that latter bit. The term quadrille paper is documented here: www.dcstamps.com/obock-french-colony-1884-1896

WELL DONE, Sherlocks. There were 5 correct answers to Rene’s renden suggested stamp. cjoprey rednaxela salentin hdm1950 Statesman Stamper rednaxela wrote; This stamp dates from the time of the Russian Civil War after the Bolshevik October Revolution: The "Army of the North" operated for some time in the region north-east of Petrograd (St. Petersburg/Leningrad). Around September to December 1919, stamps were used in the area held by this army: a series of 5 stamps, of which today's challenge is one. It is #4 (in all relevant catalogs), namely the value of 20 kopecks. There are numerous forgeries of the "Army of the North" stamps! The abbreviation OKCA (in Cyrillic letters) stands for "Special Corps, Army of the North".
