One of the favorites of most World Wide collectors is LiberiaNo doubt the great many and beautiful bi-color engraved stamps has something to do with it Showing the first page (as always) and several of the purdier pages this country has to offer. This will be a double post as 5 pages just are not enough

If someone were to tell me that these were the most beautiful stamps ever produced, I could not disagree. I would think these, in one form or another, should be a must have for any semi serious U.S. collector. The 1875 issues are proofs and the 1895-97 are the issued stamps. While these have always been quite pricey, I have just noticed substantial increases in catalog values. The only affordable way to go on the first design types are the proofs. If anyone has a recent (2013-4) U.S. Scott specialized could you please give me the values on the 1875 proofs; plate 3 #PR9P-PR32P? My 2000 catalog values the proof set around $230. In contrast my current catalog (which does not list proofs) has the issued stamps around $52,000 which is 3 times the 2000 value. The second design type stamp issue of 1895-97 is quite different, regarding affordability, than the first design types. They currently cat at $385.50 Finding them on the other hand might prove difficult.

What I collect: Primarily focused on Japan, but lots of other material catches my eye as well ...

Plate 4 catalogs at $318.00. Definitely easier to swallow than $52,000. (Check your email.) -- Dave

Kept forgetting my daily posts the last few days, so today I'm making it a special and one of my favorites VenezuelaAbout 20 years ago I bought a "starter" collection of Venezuela which at the time was probably the best one I had seen. Since then I have added a great many stamps which has probably tripled the original value. they issued a large number of stamps and it can be fairly difficult to get a semi reasonable showing. I still need several items but you will find it difficult to see a better showing of them. For now I'm showing the first 5 pages and will show some more later on (probably today)
