... if you are having access issues, it may be that Steve ( Admin ) hasn’t changed your status yet. ... Individuals whose mini-profile reflect " New Member" are restricted to only being able to post on the New Member Introduction board -- a safeguard against spammers polluting the entire Forum. Individuals whose mini-profile reflect "* *Member**" have made the required introduction and are able to post in most other areas of the Forum. Once an individual has met the criteria for full membership (i.e., 14 days/50 posts), his or her mini-profile will reflect " Member" and access to the Buy, Sell, Trade boards is allowed.

Congratulations to Beryllium Guy for his article, Philatelic Travelogue: Hunting British Postboxes, being selected to represent the Forum/Chapter as its 2022 APS Article of Distinction. Thanks to the 38 members who took the time to participate in the selection process (sadly, only a portion of the membership who frequent the Forum on a regular basis). My special thanks go to those who contribute the articles that sustain the Newsletter.

Only 5 days remain before the poll locks and we'll know which article will represent the Forum and our Chapter as our 2022 APS Article of Distinction.
If you aren't one of the 35 members who have already made their selections known, please go to the poll at the beginning of this thread and cast your vote.
The best way for you to recognize the effort made by these authors to support the Newsletter and this Forum is to participate in the selection process.

Bill Symes has provided the below images of the only stamp precanceled by the United Nations. The precancel is on the 1½ cent blue green stamp showing the UN Headquarters Building (Scott 2; 1951). It exists in two variations, offset and letterpress printed. The offset variety is at left and the letterpress is at right. Should you have questions about these or other precancels, Bill may be contacted at wgs092045 AT gmail DOT com.

Rack es un término inglés que se emplea para nombrar a la estructura que permite sostener o albergar un dispositivo tecnológico. Se trata de un armazón metálico que, de acuerdo a sus características, sirve para alojar una computadora, un router u otra clase de equipo.

This listing of Luxembourg Precancels was provided to the Forum by Wiliam Symes, a collector of worldwide precancels who has been a member of the Precancel Stamp Society for over 50 years. Bill was one of the 4 who produced the PSS catalog on France, Monaco, Tunisia & Algeria in 1985. He wasn't sure of the source as it was sent to him by another collector many years ago. If you are interested in contacting Bill, he may be reached by email at wgs092045 AT gmail DOT com.

Steve, I'm interested in the terminology you gave for the above item. Is it a Souvenir sheet or a pane ? You described it as being a pane. It's a beautiful piece. In popular usage the term sheet is incorrectly used to refer to a pane of sheet stamps. In this case, the printed sheet was cut into four panes of 25 subjects each. It should technically be referred to as a " souvenir pane;" however, Scott refers to the piece as souvenir sheet and that is why I described it as such. Even the definition of a souvenir sheet in the United States Stamp Society's Glossary of Terms for the Collector of U.S. Stamps adds to the confusion. It defines a souvenir sheet as being: In that definition there is a link to the definition of a sheet as being:

If one draws the inference that W.G. Grace was also a tennis player, then similarly, Queen Elizabeth II would also be an Australian Parliament Building.

Not sure what the red numbers are, unless they are spec numbers or amounts available?? I assume they are the asking prices -- catalog number/asking price/catalog value.

To be clear, the Forum in no way condones or is promoting the misuse of unused Priority Mail boxes for constructing DIY slipcases.

I believe the ask was to include an image in the post, rather than a link to an external source.

[ADMIN NOTE: This post was originally made response to concerns voiced in a different thread. It has been recreated here for member awareness.]... If I quote a member and delete his pics I will end up in his BOX - so this has nothing to do with how I operate - all is how the TSF server works and I do not have a clue... There is a simple method for getting yourself out of the quote box -- it is illustrated below: Opening the BBCode tab will offer this presentation: I hope this helps eliminate some of the frustration caused by the ProBoards' (not TSF's) software.

I don't believe them to be common but they are not rare. I imagine that larger institutions and those financially able to afford cancelling devices were responsible for them. Far more common are the pen and manuscript cancels. Here are two Scott R135s from my collection that show the embossing effect. The first has v-shaped (or chevron) cut cancels with the date stamp seemingly embossed and the second is affixed to a bank check.

daver, I believe both of the stamps to be R27c. Below is a partial image of the back of an R27d in my collection. Note the silk threads embedded in the paper. I believe this one is unusual as there are, in my limited experience, far more threads than are normally found in the silk paper revenues.

What is "within" reason - I also mostly use the default font but that does not tell me the whole story behind it René I don't want forum posts to turn in to something more appropriately found in a children's coloring book. The intent is that posts convey useful information, rather than modern impressionist visuals. Let's all just try to apply some common sense when creating posts.

@paperchase,
Did the object remain on the gum side of the block and, if not, were there any indications of its presence there?
