My newest arrival… Finally have two #10´s on cover. They are not a pair and you can see a difference in size. Back stamped Nov 30 1863 in Yarmouth, NS. Purchased from a seller in Argentina. I would love to know how it ended up there.

My Nova Scotia proof and trial colours collection continues to grow with the arrival of this Unitrade 10TCviii. Black is a trial colour and the green SPECIMEN is rather rare. Was this on EBay? If so I think we might have been bidding against each other.

I think a stamp is worth what ever a buyer is milling to pay.
CV helps me decide how much I want to pay for a stamp. Certainly from the classic era.
I see the value in getting stamps out in the market place. My duplicates sitting binders are doing me no good nor do they add to my collection.
I am sure you will continue to get comments about your pricing.
i have never collected with the thought of return on my investment. I collect for pleasure. Yes, I have paid good, hard earned money to acquire my collection.
When I have time all duplicates will be eliminated and I will sell at any cost that will get them out of my hands.

We all collect what we like or what interests us.
I am not a fan of this group so I would not collect for that reason. If I was collecting modern UK then I would see this added to a collection.
with limited money to spend, I make my purchases based on what I need to complete my collection.

Canada Post has released info bout Christmas stamps. I have tried without success to post a direct link to show images. Do I suggest going directly to www.Canadapost.ca to see Latest offerings. I think this year’s offerings are best in many years. Also there is a Diwali, Hanukkah and Eid issues. For Forum members who would like to have one of these issues please send me a message and and I will send you a card this holiday season. Send me a request message and I will do my best to get something to you. I will try mot best to send the issue you want but it may be a combination of a few stamps depending on where you live. I will be able to guarantee that they will be correctly cancelled with clear dates. I have trained my local postal outlet workers well. They know that us stamp collecterons want nice cancelation on stamps. Please send your request for a card privately with your address if not all ready on the list. Just to give you an idea, it is 2.71 $CAD over seas, 1.30$CAD to US. I may use a combination of current stamps to make up the correct rate. I will try my best to have all mailed by Dec 1 David

I read Lionel’s question to refer to tape on the front of the stamp , not used to fix stamps to a page, I read his issue is with stamps that have come on a package or an envelope where the tape sealing the package has been stuck on top of the stamp. Either way there is no remedy. I interpreted his question the same way. I annoys me to no end that tape is used on an envelope. I think the census so far….no way to remove tape from either the front or the back. i have had tape come off when soaking from paper. But there has always been a a sticky residue left on the stamp. It is always sad to hear of the passing of one of our members. I always enjoyed Jim’s insight. He will be missed here .

In the past when approaching a large off paper mixture I would typically sort countries alphabetically. For smaller mixes this usually works just fine, but on a larger mix I have found it less satisfying. I end up with piles of stamps, but progress just feels slow. For my current mix, I'm going to try something a little different. As I work through it, I'm planning to use four groupings to start: GB + Empire + Commonwealth Europe Americas Everything else This reflects the rough order I'd like to work on once everything has been sorted. I use plastic food storage containers with lids to keep intermediate sorts in, as there tends to be less pain if I knock the stack of them over. Dale Hours of fun!

My regime, and I deal with 1000's of "swaps" at a time.
I search for a cardboard box, at the supermarket, that will hold an A4 wide envelope , it has to be that wide (and a long. box) They do exist.
…..
Then as you sit down on a Sunday afternoon, and you think "I'll work on Dahomey today, pluck out the envelope ....Voila!
Then, the countries yo don't collect, ready in ebvelopes, to pass on to your swap colleague, they will appreciate all 1 country in 1 envelope...win win.
This is how I try to sort through my collections…..it is a slow process but I can easily sort through the countries I do not collect.

I think it is an example of the the way the young person was raised. Parents are those who set the best example of teaching what is right or wrong.
