I'll start off with my most recent purchase. I know nothing about them as yet, but I fell in love with the design and the words. They cost an arm and almost a leg but it was worth the fight. WAR BONDS. These stamps are urging the purchase of War Bonds to support the War effort. They are part of the "Your 10% Plus" promotion, where workers were urged to set aside at least 10% of their paychecks to buy War Bonds. These are probably from 1942 or 43. Londonbus1

Michael, those truly are excellent. I can see why you fell for them. Here's one I'll contribute. Published by the British American Ambulance Corps. of New York, it incorporates the Morse code for V in the design.

I am just aghast at these wonderful looking items! I'm actually quite surprised that I don't collect these war bond promoting stamps myself, after being a (albeit very casual) WWI & WWII. militaria collector-mostly bayonets- but I love the very first one posted by Londonbus that shows Hideki Tōjō, Adolph Hitler & Benito Mussolini and also the soldier in a "bayonet charge"! GREAT STUFF!! I'll be keeping a close eye on this thread!!

I.L.S. Yes, one of my favourite Cinderella topics. Good material is not cheap though, especially WWI-WWII items. I had to fight tooth and nail to win those sheets you spoke of. Here's one from my part of the world. One from Scotland...... ...and what about a would-be propaganda aka Fantasy item ! More yet to come..... Londonbus1

The following item was reported to have been issued on the orders of Yasser Arafat [Around 1980]. A set of 17 exists with various overprints.
Here is one block of 4, each stamp with a different message. Overprinted on Reproductions of British Mandate of Palestine stamps. They were produced in limited numbers and dispersed around the globe by the PLO propaganda machine. I have a complete set purchased many years ago from the most learned Israel/Palestine Postal History expert there is. They remain the most expensive item I have ever added to my Cinderella collection !! Sometimes one just cannot resist. More another time......

Below are a selection of [mainly] wartime USA labels of which there are thousands. I will add information as I find it to the individual items, although info for some, notably the 'V' labels, is very hard to come by. Some nice designs, and some are as hard to find as the background story !! I am rather fond of this topic at present. I think I spied a wartime Savings stamp in there too !! Imposter ! Below is a miniature poster issued by the Tide Water Associated Oil Company and is one of a series of 50. I offered a few of these in the recent Birthday Auction, won by Philatarium. Very atmospheric item if I am allowed to say that ! Londonbus1

Nice one james !! Now you've got me going again. Here are some more from the Tide Water Associated Oil Company Miniature posters. The last one is another of those varieties I spoke of when posting the July 19th Auction lot. This one is an upward colour shift of at least 2 colours, but not on the black text portion !! Londonbus1

Say 'NO' to war ! "NO"....there, I said it. A couple more 'V' for victory including another with morse code like one shown by james earlier. I will start a thread for the Concord Minuteman as there appears to be many labels depicting him. He is deserving of his own place. If james can make bigger scans of any Minuteman items and put them there, I'd be a very happy chappy !! Londonbus1

[Broken image link removed by Moderator] Just a follow up to my own post, I read in the December issue of Gibbons Stamp Monthly (received in my Christmas stocking this morning!) that the label on the right was actually produced locally in Jamaica! An image in the article shows the label on a cover posted from Kingston in 1942.

Hi James: Another possibility is that the label on the right was produced in Canada and used by Canadian troops stationed in Jamaica during WWII. What is the destination of the 1942 cover? I also suspect that the label on the left was a Canadian production, based on the cover below, though it would be nice to find a cover with the label tied.
