Although not unknown, it is rare to see a '--' catalogue entry for a listed item where no value given in this example shared here from a posting on the " NZ Great Barrier Island Pigeon Post" thread for the 'VP6 1/- Red Marotiri',
As this is just one reference and I do recall seeing others examples being posted to TSF from different catalogues, what can one infer from these listings?
Have fun and happy collecting!!

Found another example of missing values, this time, one from the Hibernian for Irish Overprints with the catalogue page shared in this thread here,
It would appear that there are five instances on this one page alone and all dealing with varieties. Are they rare, not existent or is there some other reason that there are some catalogue entries without an associated value?
A search of the Internet, "What does it mean when a stamp catalogue does not show a value?" proved futile...
Have fun and happy collecting!

I believe it means “unknown in this condition” and will probably be in the used column and thus never recorded as found ……..so far, but we are always hoping,

The more specialized or rare the catalog entries, the more of these you see. They're all over Michel's Germany Specialized. As TSF Admin noted, that doesn't necessarily mean rare, just that it's known, but there's not enough sales data to set a price.

In 1923 the government took over the postal administration of Southern Rhodesia from the British South Africa Company. As a result the large stocks of stamps still held by the BSAC were cancelled and then disposed of to the stamp trade. This included the stock of the remaining 1909 "Rhodesia" overprint of the 1898 definitive. Amongst these, were sheets of inverted overprints that had not previously been released, these are now only possible CTO and therefore only catalogued used, the mints stamps being given no value. This applies to 3 denominations:
