Issue from Mali, YT #PA5a, shortly after the Mali Federation broke up, with a "REPUBLIQUE DU MALI" overprint, but the "E" at the end of "REPUBLIQU" is missing:

I don't actively collect errors but having found quite a few, mainly in auction lots I have kept them in a stock book, (mainly Machins 21 pages of). I have purchased a few others, over the years which are "displayed" alongside the "normal" ones in my GB collection. I now check all stamps back & front for any flaws they may have. The errors on the Machins were seen under magnification so may not be apparent on the scan. The booklet was issued by Rembrandt Philatelics for The Queens Silver Jubilee Appeal, 10000 copies. Stamps are inverted in this one??

lokos..It is a Misregistration a colour shift.
There are a few Canadian Scott 789 - Queen Elizabeth with this oddity. Below is the definition taken from Ralph Trimble's..But not a re-entry.
Here is my one example...

Is this a smear during printing , some foreign matter dragged across two stamps ? Runs through PO STAGE on the lower stamp into 1 2 on the upper Certainly a one off and not a constant variety. Of course it may just be surface damage

Hi vikingeck...You are correct..Not a variety..Just smudge at printing time. Could have been caused by printer fingers..I have many examples on different stamps...Fairly common.

I’d certainly rather it was a wet ink smear and not surface damage .

As I was looking for the Typo variant of this common Argentina stamp (Scott 345) I found this example with double printing along the bottom edge.

There are some odd/weird marks on stamps that are known varieties and some that might be a variety. Here is an example with my Scott 25 large queen Stamp... Robert

Gutter pair of France YT#576a (left) and YT#576 (right): The error in 576a is the signature in the bottom left corner that reads "EL" instead of the full "J. PIEL".

Hello stamp friends, I hope you are all well. A relative of mine has sent me some photos of the US elf stamp booklet she bought. It appears that the pane has severe miscuts that make some of the stamps imperforate. Errors are not my thing, so I could do with some help as to what she has and if there is any value to it. Feel free to respond to this message or PM me. Sorry for the condition of the photos, I have asked her to send me the stamps and I can do a decent scan. Thanks in advance. Will

wilford Linn's Stamp News reported multiple discoveries of misplaced die cuts with the Elf booklets on January 17th see here with such booklets selling for between $30 and $70. Ultimately, the price would depend on the severity of the miscut and the total number of such booklets. Scott will list a block of four imperforate in between as an error. Daniel

The 1938 Tourism collection from the Belgian Congo is plagued with misalignments. The stand-alone image shows how the alignment should be (as does the far bottom left 5c stamp) whereas the others middle images are all misaligned.

Couldn't really think of a sub-forum more suitable, so I'm here, but Admin. please do move if you consider this will be better in another location. thanks. Just a personal comment regarding the larger green 1.1/2d. value, from Jamaica, - SG 80 from July 1919 - 'War Contingent Embarking On S.S. 'VERDALA' 1915' where the choice of words for this low value seems to jar as a way of writing in words. For comparison, but not really much different in sound, is the similar wording on the yellow 1.1/2d. value War Stamp from Antigua - SG 54 from July 1918 - to our modern eyes an equally odd way of writing this particular value. The use of face values, in words - on stamps for Britain or British colonies, appear not to have occurred to designers for some few years after the blacks and blues of 1840s, and in general there seems not to have been a hard and fast rule for such inclusions, though in many instances it's the low values that mostly ended up with such additions, but then again many high values were given this treatment, though perhaps it's a more essential requirement on high values. I think it's the way of repeating the word 'penny' that comes across as a bit OTT, that makes - for us - an awkward sound - 'ONE PENNY HALF PENNY'. I notice too that this hit and miss situation occurs on the well known Dorothy Wilding low values from the 1950s - some have their value in words, some don't. So, seems unpredictable - thank goodness the U.K. no longer uses the 'halfpenny' - or perhaps it's just me being picky;-)
