Not in the 1st edition of the Field Guide, but I do have a listing in the 2nd edition for these types of flags and coat of arms stamps that were meant to be added to stamp album pages (cc3862, cc3864). But the ones pictured are new to me. Perhaps we shall see them in the 3rd Edition I have now added these to the listing. Thanks!

Love the winter stamps cindycan2! I just got back from Fernie this week and I must admit, I looked a lot like the guy in the Fernie stamp. That is to say, I skied over my own pole at least once! Mark

Nice lot frog ! I wonder if you can tell me if these belong here or not ?
Just a bit of fun really. If they don't belong here then where do they belong ? Canadian revenues ? Topicals?
I'll pop them into the correct thread tomorrow...........but only if this thread is not the correct one !!

Here's an interesting set of poster stamps designed by Tom Thomson in 1914, and reprinted in 1977 as a commemorative sheet.

Here is a small selection of other Gerald King fantasy stamps from the Elizatoria series - the ones based on Canada and BNA early stamps.

While I like the look of the Gerald King creations. IMHO there is something wrong about the whole feel of creating things for collecting. To celebrate events okay,to promote products okay, but really beyond artistic value what are these? The other problem I have the artist sets the price not the community thereby making a value that may or may not be correct. I may one day still change streets and pursue them.

I don't collect them either. I just picked up a small collection from an estate lot whilst in the UK and they will all go from here one way or another. There is a large WW clientele for such things though and the market sets the price. It seems these types of homemade Cinderellas are much more sought after these days than Cinderella Classics, and the prices reflect that.
Slightly sad in my opinion but that's life.

LB1, the Gerald King's I have seen listed are for sale at a set price from the artist. The market's only influence is if they they are then purchased. This in my eyes reflects that the artist is then setting a price that is a false (either high OR low) market reflection.I suppose only time will tell if they retain any true interest. To those that do collect them kudos they are an excellent looking bunch and I truly understand the draw.As always collect what interests you and let no one dictate what is good or bad.

Frog.......here is an example.
18 years ago I purchased a small collection of Wonderland from a dealer who had good stocks of the earlier Gerald King. I purchased a 'set' of 90 stamps and 2 M/S's for £45. Today that same dealer is selling the remainders for over £200 for the same set minus a few !!
I agree, the makers make the price originally and they set their standards high. Not only GK items but others too like Discworld, Laernu etc. All at much higher prices generally than classic older items by Waterlow and Perkins Bacon.
that's life.

Here are the Know Canada Series mentioned by cindyman two years ago. These are from a sheet of 48 poster stamps, unfortunately the sheet is no longer a sheet

The "Know Canada" stamps seem like a precursor to the Rick Mercer Report.
