Trivia item - Paul Winchell, the voice of Tigger in the Disney cartoons (and Fleegle on The Banana Splits, yay!), was also an inventor. He was the first person to build and patent an artificial heart.

Does anyone know when new Unitrade is released?? and Do you have good source(price) where it is available???I have decided to forgo buying new supplements seems a waste as within five years I throw them out in favor of quadrille pages.I would rather buy new unitrade every two or three years for same buck.I see it's like new car this years model is almost twice what used last year model is.

1967 Propaganda Card and "stuck downs".
TSF Member therealwesty: Rod, that card looks like it is from the 1967 Centennial stamp case. It's a grey clam-shell style case that I think was intended to keep your stamps in. The card is sandwiched between two sheets of clear plastic to make the cover of the case. If I get some time, I will take/post some pics of mine!

Rod I believe you won those on a SCF auction a few years back that I held. Those came from what therealwesty said, it was a plastic desktop box that you could insert a roll of stamps. It also had a water reservoir. On hunt to find a image.

A very interesting, albeit niggardly cover. 1. The NICEST "spray on" cancel I have witnessed from Australia Post, If this is the new standard, then Whoopee. 2. The Cover was posted from Quebec City December 30th 2013 It arrived in Beechboro, just outside of Perth the next day (Covering 18,275 Km in a day) crossing Int datelines That still is fabulous. It took a further 9 days, to travel the remaining 223 Km to my PO Box A "window" envelope, so the stamps will be soaked.

Saw this and was bit interesting one stamp overprinted other not.Is this the way they were produced?? Canada Post joined with the Royal Canadian Mint to produce a number of stamp & coin sets using the engraved high-value definitives. I've seen sets up to the $8 Grizzly. Below is an image I found online for your stamps. The polar bear set is old enough that it is no longer listed on the Canada Post website, but here's an example of a later issue. Ryan

Do you know how many of this format were printed??? I found some conflicting numbers but it looks like your example comes from the 2004 set which had a mintage of just over 25,000. There is at least one other year when a stamp & coin set was released - while looking for info on your set, I found the image below showing a 2000 set. Again, one stamp is mint and one has a philatelic cancel, with a different design and date on this one. Ryan

I had mentioned earlier that I have seen stamp & coin sets joint issued by Canada Post and the Royal Canadian Mint, with sets for the engraved high-value mammal definitives. I was wondering if they had ever released a set for the $10 blue whale stamp, and yes, it exists. As with the other sets, the coin is of limited mintage (10,000 in this case, less than any of the other sets), and one stamp in the pair comes with a philatelic cancel. Ryan

For those that pay attention 25,000 is a very small number in modern printing I'll go on a limb and say twenty years hence this will turn out very well.

So is the 'extra' printing on these high-value stamps in the coin/stamp sets an overprint or a cancel?

So is the 'extra' printing on these high-value stamps in the coin/stamp sets an overprint or a cancel? It's described on the Canada Post site as a cancel. I've seen one of the cancelled $2 bears, it has full gum on reverse. Favour cancelled, philatelic cancel, cancelled to order, there may be some debate about the proper terminology but it's considered to be a cancellation and not an overprint. One of the images I posted (2000 Bear set) shows a clear date on the cancellation. Ryan

Is anyone familiar with what may made this mark please? I am 99% certain that this is a portion of a slogan postmark that featured a large Morse code "V" for Victory. In Morse code, V = "...-" . OK,a quick Google Image search, here's an example nabbed from another board - I had to pick this one because it comes from my home town! Ryan

Well, I'll be........... That is phantastic Ryan. You know I thought to myself, it looks like Morse, then said "Nah....must be a revenue cancel of some sort"
As I have said before, you are a genius.
Snitched your scan for my album page.

Yes, can't for the life of me figure out why this issue is marketing so high. It's a very similar design as earlier picture post so why the high demand??And to top it off a used stamp with a personal picture would command a price equal to classic issues.

I just looked at a set of twelve for $98 I might gamble these will fall out of favor and hold off for a year before shelling out that kind of cash for modern fad.

Just my opinion but I think there are two reasons that are driving the prices. The first is that even though these have been available since around the year 2000, the 2013 edition of Unitrade was the first time they created a "Picture Postage" section just like other BOB areas such as Semi Postals and Airmails. That probably did a good job of focusing some collectors attention. The other reason, and now that they have the attention of the collectors, is the incredibly small quantities that are being produced and the fact that Canada Post seems to be going out of there way to NOT let collectors know about there availability and to NOT make them easy for the "average Joe" to acquire. The new catalog section only starts with issues from Sept. 2011 and assigns them catalog numbers starting with "PP1". The previous issues they have left in the regular catalog section and haven't included them. The numbers produced only indicate what the "Initial Quantities" printed were but don't give any indication as to whether there were any additional printings. ( Personally with the lack of availability and publicity and the short time frame between the next new issue being released I doubt there would be much in additional printings made except those issues that were privately ordered and aren't included in the catalog listings anyhow.).
Here's a few examples of quantities.
PP1 and PP2 issued Sept.12, 2011 only had 1050 panes of 21 or a total of 22 050 stamp printed of each. PP3 and PP4 issued Oct. 18, 2011 only had 600 panes of 21 or a total of 12 600 stamps of each printed.
Unitrade seems to have changed their criteria for what they were willing to include in the catalog with these issues. It used to be that if the stamp wasn't reasonably acquirable to the general public and/or if it came with some type of premium price attached then they wouldn't include it in the catalog. The millennium issues are a good modern example of that policy. The last issues listed in the 2014 edition are PP10-PP12. No quantities are listed, probably because the only way you could get them was to order them directly from Canadian Bank Note company. Nice hey, Unitrade now lists items that are supposedly Canadian postage but you can only order them direct from the printers.
As far as catalog values go I believe your going to see more increases on these. Between new focus being put on them in the catalog now and the limited availability, well can't really see them not going up as demand increases. Unless collectors decide to boycott them as not true postage stamps because of Canada Post's policies. Just the increase between the new listings in the 2013 edition and the current value in the 2014 edition.
2013....PP1-PP4...$2.50 each
2014....PP1-PP4....$3.50 each
These are the values for the issues produced for Canada Post with Canada Post's images used. Unitrade isn't including any values for those that were produced with private images such as BoB & Sue's wedding or Aunt Emily's vacation or cute little JoJo the wonder dog. My guess would be that these issues will sell for higher amounts. Both because their quantities will be incredibly small, anywhere from people ordering one sheet as a novelty to someone ordering a hundred or two for wedding invitations and also because they show the stamp being used as it was intended, with personal pictures as the stamp image.
Again, these are just my personal opinions, Rick
I should have said the $2.50 and $3.50 values were for used singles.

O.K you've sparked my interest and raised some questions.I saw on site Jack suggested they were available in horizontal and vertical formats.Does that mean there are twenty four stamps? Is this one of those unique sets where the used stamps are much more difficult to find?? I really need to pay more attention to modern stuff.
