1951 St Nicolas 15 Francs, Yvert #904 Maury list one variant 904b with the description "chappe bleu-noir au ieu de rouge: (Google translation 'blue-black tread instead of red' chappe by itself translates to 'screed") Yvert & Tellier list2 variants 904b "Soutaine ardiose" (Google translation 'slate brace/support') and #904c "Soulier juane" (Google translation 'Yellow shoe' ) Below are three examples I have, all are mint, one has been hinged. #2 has somewhat yellowed paper (no mention of different papers used to print, so most like how it was stored these past 70+ years). #3 has much more blue in the lower areas of the cloak (#1 has some on left... ) I have looked online on the usual sites with no offerings of variants. If anyone (has a better translation, OR has a color variant, please share! Thank you in advance

A small but welcome package arrived in the mail yesterday. I've had a yearning for this stamp - it's France C12, from 1936 - ever since I first saw one, and I finally had the opportunity to acquire a beautiful copy without completely destroying my budget. Canned peas and store-brand hot dogs, we're gonna be friends for a while. But this stamp is just beautiful. A frame that looks like it should be on a 500-franc bank note, not a 50-franc stamp! A misguided attempt to make "Poste" and "Aérienne" symmetrical!! Excellent centering!!! (Oddly, that hasn't always been a French specialty.) And... burelage!!! Big bad burelage!!! It's so unique, I just love it!!!! (The only stamps with burelage I had up until now, or even remember seeing, are from the German occupation of Serbia.)

What I collect: I collect world wide up to 1965 with several specialty albums added due to volume of material I have acquired. At this point I am focused on Canada and British America. I am always on the lookout for stamps and covers with postmarks from communities in Queens County, Nova Scotia. I do list various goods including stamps occasionally on eBay as hdm50

It steered me to Wikipedia where I learned that Denmark was first to use it in 1851 followed by Hanover in 1855. You will probably find now you will see it everywhere. Beautiful stamp.

Congratulstions eggdog! Wow - the burelage on that issue is actually esthetically pleasant. The whole stamp is just a thing of beauty. In a bit of a coincidence, I've was reading about how to identify the types of burelage on DWI issues just a few days ago.

I will embarass myself with this one . Some months ago, I bought the used 50F airmail, filed it in a "to be processed pile" and promptly forgot about it. Much later, still wanting to complete the set, I splurged and bought a mint copy (got it at a reasonable price). Having the nice mint copy, I then purchased the remainder of the set mint, so I am now blessed with complete sets both mint and used. On the good side, both sets look nice mounted. This speaks to advancing age and a very messy stamp desk.

nice stamps nbstamper ! I just got a used 50F in with a set (hasn't arrived yet) in an auction I won New Years Day for a used set, at a price 60& of what I'm currently seeing used singles going for, An unused stamp would be nice to have, but out of range. So I will settle for a mint set except for the 50F green must have been holiday hangovers, I did not expect to win the auction and it didn't even get to my max bid.I hope I haven't overlooked something.

stainlessb I have@ been following this thread and decided to dig in my albums and found my copy. This was purchased back in 2018 before I developed my interest in Austria and postmarks, and neglected my France collection.A copy of the certification is enclosed. This is the only stamp I have with a cerificate. nbstamper I think your used copy is much nicer.

I have quite an accumulation now of French imperforates. I'll share them all sometime, but here are three recent acquisitions. These are sc C37, C38, and C40, airmails from the 1960 currency revaluation. For those unfamiliar with them, the French imperforates began regularly around 1940. They were printed in batches of 1000, or more correctly, in batches of 20 sheets, and passed to various officials and involved citizens. They became available by subscription through licensed stamp dealers sometime in the 1960s. I believe the program ended in the early 1990s. Please inform me if you have more information.

This year is Gustave Eiffel's bicentennial, so La Poste had to mark the event with a special souvenir sheet, bringing back two earlier designs honoring him:

Another page. 1948 CITEX stamps - Yvert 830 -833 and the souvenir 'band' (#833A) Printed 10 'bands' per sheet and because they are only perforated on one end, i think they may have been cut apart manually (both strips and single stamps) as I have seen some odd cuts

going through a recent 'lot" of France, it included these- a nice mint set of Pasteur. A few upgrades to my existing set. and used gutter pair of the earliest ( 1914) "Red Cross" - Yvert 146 and, no speciallness really, just one I found interesting that had been used on something sent by Air Mail (Poste Aerienne) 1957 Yvert 1115 and so it goes!

1954 -1959 issue dates, Moissonneuse (harvester/reaper). The pre-canceled issues 9b were actually issued before the regular issues. I though about placing them at the top of the page... i may still, but for, and admittedly picking off some 'low-hanging fruit" ... as I procrastinate getting back into and completing Semeuse (time consuming and I have many stamps to go through....) this at least represents some progress

I decided today was a good day to get a page made for this and the sheet mounted before anything goes awry ( far right column left side perfs are shaky!) Yvert 144 Type Merson. I was going to cut the mount down so it was a bit closer /framed it better, but rather than handle the sheet too many times, this seemed the safest route
