Part of being a stamp collector, involves becoming intimate where countries lie. "Ivory Coast" Lies in the "Central Belt" of Africa, I remember it by the saying " Greg's Great Stamps Lie In Greg's Thematics, But Not Collin's" (GGSLIGTBNC) Guinea Bissau Guinea (Conackry) Sierra Leone Liberia Ivory Coast Ghana Togo Benin Nigeria Cameroon. This is a thread that needs new blood !! Well, I am starting since I have upgraded my Cote d'Ivoire collection this week with multiple stamps on the way ...but I could not resist....since my friend Jon blaamand from Norway loves these and collects ++++ them Jon, this one is for you (when I receive it)......... the other ones (stamps) I keep !!

Great stamps and covers guys! stainlessb - Very fine display of shades. I believe there were several printings of these, on different papers. blaamand.....Hello,I have a 2006 Dallay catalogue and no mention of different shades.The 1c,2c,4c,5c,10cand 15c were part of a 24 stamp series issued in 1936.There was a 35c issued in 1938 and the 3c was issued in 1940.

gmot....Very nice stamps !!! At the moment,I am cncentrating more on later issues,but that might change !
Thanks for the commment about the French Revolution set.That is my favourite series...beautiful designs and colours.I was lucky enough to find a complete mint unhinged set of all the colonies at a good price.A used set was impossible to find so I had to find each colony separately.It took me some time but I mmanaged to complete it.I am now trying to find examples used on covers.

renden I bought those at an auction last year - bit of a splurge but not easy to find a complete, nice looking set of those. Your postage dues look very nice. anglobob so jealous you were able to find a MNH complete set of the French Revolution series - what a great find. My favourite French colonial series - don't ask me to choose between them! - is actually the 1931 and 1937 Exposition series - love the designs on those, have most of them but some in not so good condition.

Semi-postal issued in 1938 to commemorate the 40th anniversay of the discovery of radium by Pierre and Marie Curie.A full colonial series has 21 stamps,and used copies are harder to find.  |
