Hope he's OK. He left a message on GOMC July 5th
Thank you for your concern I have taken time off stamps all together - I was getting very jaded. As LB1 mentioned I resigned as a MOD from 3 other stamp sites as well and have not logged on any since.
Cheers and cu all soon

sgard Not seen these before. What year would these be, please? Thanks to sgard for showing the whole set of Romana birds from 1992 Hi Rod I have a 4 of those birds on maxi-cards and I'm not aware if they did cards for the whole set. I purchased them off ebay a long time ago, but the quality of the card stock and the images is very poor. Heres oneof the better ones (I'll try to scan another to let you see how bad they really are). Common Rock Thrush (Monticola saxatilis)

Hello Bas, me neither. There are 2 Souvenir Sheets of the birds, totalling 24 birds (May I suggest they are 1991 issues, 7th October) Each Souvenir sheet had 125,000 printings.
24 Birds would be a massive Maxi issue, so I doubt it.
With Romania, their production quality is often less than desired, but is offset by their huge emmission catalogue, Quite a challenge.

Thanks Rod Didnt check the stamp issue date, but the maxi-cards date is 1992. From the Romana Mini-sheet shown earlier by sgard , here are two of the atrociously produced Maxi-cards. Red-headed Myzomela - Myzomela erythrocephala The artwork has be cropped from a larger drawing leaving bits of birds poking out all around the card. Gymnostinops montezuma Similar bad cropping - what were they thinking!

Rod Thanks for the movie - I'll have a look when I get some time.
On the link page I gave there are 20 shown for sale, and I have one card that is not shown (todus mexicanus). Therefore it looks like Romania may have produced the whole 24 on maxi-cards.
At around $5 NZ each they seem expensive. I think I paid around $5 for the 4.

Bas S Warwick... and with shipping, $10 each. I have not seen these before, so I can only speculate, however Romanian philately can be tricky. Some Romanian emissions were never seen by Romanians locally, and made for the export market. I try not o criticise what collectors pay, that is their business, personally, I would be patient and seek these elsewhere, I think one could do better. That said, it depends, as usual, whether one wants an item immediately, or is prepared to gamble and wait. Your Aussie Maxi, Postmarked "Rainbow Beach" parrot Rainbow Lorikeet

Your Aussie Maxi, Postmarked "Rainbow Beach" parrot Rainbow Lorikeet Thanks Rod If they fall into my hands at a dollar or less I might buy, but at $10 each (with P/P - thats well over the top). The quality is poor - card is almost paper thin, and the images are badly done.. 2 more from the Aussie Parrot Set

1990 Ross Dependency 50 (from a set of 6) I was just looking at the bird cage postcard, brain was in neutral, (I have just finished 40km on the bike) Then it just dawned on me, what a powerful message that postcard has, "freedom" the cage door ajar. It was quite a moment. May all birds be free.
