carlberky , Congratulations! It seems to me that a write-up about your intent, problems encountered along the way, surprises, what you'd do differently the next time, etc., would make an interesting article for the Forum's newsletter.

Having finished the album of world wide 2016 Rio Olympic stamps, I looked for my next project.
Starting on the 2012 London Olympics was an easy choice, but a bit too daunting after the 2016. A collection of all of the United States issued postal stamps celebrating the Olympics came to mind, but then I thought of something that might actually be useful to others.
Several years ago, I became involved in a project intended to interest young children in becoming stamp collectors. I created four album sheets of fairly low priced 19th century stamps in PDF format and easily downloadable. The project faded away, due to too many chiefs going in different directions, and the album is just gathering micro dust.
As my next project, I intend to acquire all of the 58 stamps, in unused and extra-fine condition, and create new illustrated PDF's.
The existing PDF's reference Scott numbers, and I don't know if it would be legal for me to offer dowloads to the forum. If some one can tell me if it's acceptable, then all I need is the email address.
Don, if interested, It's available for StampSmarter.

Carl, Scott grants permission to use material it has covered by copyright (e.g., catalog numbers) if, among other things: "Such material is not used as part of any catalogue, stamp album or computerized or other system based upon the Scott catalogue numbers..." I'd recommend against using the Scott numbers but rather simply identify the stamps by date of issue and perf/die cut measurement. That would make the product more useful regardless of the catalog being used. Lastly, I don't believe Don is a member of this forum.

By removing the Scott number references, I believe that it would make the stamp identification too difficult for the intended users.
I guess that I'll just wait until I've acquired all of the stamps, and come back with the freebie illustrated mini-album.

Carl, technically, without permission of the stamp issuing entity, you violate whatever copyright they hold by using the image of the stamp to illustrate your album pages. What are the odds you'll be prosecuted? Probably somewhere between "0%" and "0.01%." However, the odds are significantly greater for the entity which distributes the album pages, i.e. makes them available for download and/or printing (for example, TSF). Still the odds would be extremely small. It is highly unlikely Ghana will file a lawsuit (way too expensive and difficult).
If it were me, I'd probably just go ahead provide the pages to collectors by having them contact me via email, PM, etc. You are not out to profit on their designs, quite the contrary, you are altruistically promoting a hobby and, in effect, giving them free advertising for their stamps. However, I can imagine the USPS taking action, but since The US did not issue any stamps for this event, no problem. And, the whole issue with Scott numbers is still valid (and Amos Publishing does prosecute even minor copyright infringement).
Just my thoughts...

Bobby, since the mini-album is of 19th century US stamps, I'm not sure if copyrights would still apply.
Until I can provide illustrated PDF's, I will make available the existing PDF's for email attachments ... after I edit out the Scott references.
Those interested can get my email address through my profile.
(Sorry for any confusion I've caused by posting the offer here in the Olympics thread, but I haven't reached the 50 post threshold for starting a new thread.)

To clarify, you can start new threads in almost all areas of the Forum at any point after having made your introduction thread. You just can't create threads or post in the Buy, Sell, Trade portion of the Forum until you've met the 14 day/50 post threshold.

Looking at your 2016 Olympics list I don't see any mention of Uzbekistan. I believe they issued 2 stamps in May 2016, and 2 more in June 2017 (showing medallists). Also missing are Chile, Isle of Man and Suriname.

The Isle of Man's format was so similar to Great Britian's that I posted it there.

As far as I know Great Britain did not issue any stamps for the 2016 Olympic Games, apart from a miniature sheet issued at the end of the 2012 Games, which included a stamp showing the closing ceremony and handover to Rio. (SG MS3406). The Isle of Man Post Office comes under the government of that island, and is not related to the GB Postal authorities.

Another popular topic. I had just added to the post of Bridges on Stamps. Now for Sports on Stamps. Again, Luxembourg has issued a number with a sports theme to them, so start scrolling again! I think everyone can read the text at the bottom of each...

This is awesome! I have a lot of Olympic stamps from many countries, even/especially the tiny countries are so proud to participate. This seems to be a long-standing tradition around the world - it is so sweet that you put together a whole year. The Olympics, for me, have always been about the spirit of unity, so I love it.
