Joseph Sloper is credited with inventing the perfin and persuaded The General Post Office to allow the perforation of British postage stamps effective March 1858. Although the earliest known cancelled example dates to November 1868. The perfin company that Sloper founded was J.S. Sloper & Co. which would remain the largest such company until they were taken over c.1991. These examples are samples of their work with their own perfin on different coloured paper. Also shown is one of their perforation pins, obtained from the same source. See this link from The Perfin Society which also lists the companies who used their services, from their record books from the 1940s.

GB QV 4d rate (1d + 3d lilacs) cover with 1886 postmarks London to Mexico. The 3d is a perfin K S & Co, Kleinwort Sons & Co. London and Liverpool. Nice to have the complete cover to confirm the perfin origin. Graham

Fabulous entire.
Some connection perhaps, from wiki
The firm helped finance Francisco Franco's coup d'état in Spain by approving a credit of 800,000 pounds at 4% interest on 15 September 1937. A month later Kleinworts agreed another loan of 1,500,000 pounds sterling at 3%.[5]

Found a strange one, at least to me. "Sutton Reading". From what I can tell Sutton Seeds in Reading was a seed company that encompassed most of the Empire at the time. They have a museum, maybe I will donate the piece.

Maybe a council perfin, shewing a conurbation? I am currently going through my GB Perfin files.

They have a museum, maybe I will donate the piece. From an online search, the SUTTON/READING perfin is only found on higher value parcel post stamps. The Perfin Society list both this and SUTTON/&/SONS used for parcel post. They are the only such perfins spelt out in words and so it may well be that they were both used for Sutton Seeds. Daniel
