FDC of the 1986 Ameripex issue from Micronesia, featuring several ships on stamps, and, on the 33c cents stamp, "Forgery of the Hawaiian 5c Blue". Do any of our Hawaii specialists know more about this story?  |

Today, I had a visit from a Russian colleague. He is also a stamp collector and knows what I like, so he brought me the following, the recent Russia issue for the centenary of the Krasin icebreaker. This stamp is of special interest to me because it features an aurora borealis.  |

Two more ships on stamps arrived in an order delivered today. With that TAAF stamp, I have only 16 stamps missing to have the whole country complete!  |

Salentin, I just wanted to let you know that I have really enjoyed your posts in this thread of all of the stamps from the BIOT. It makes me wonder if I might be the only member on TSF who has actually visited the BIOT.... I was there around 1982-1983 on the island of Diego Garcia during my time in the US military service. I remember it as being a very small, but serene tropical island. As I had been cooped up on a ship for weeks prior to that, when we went ashore, our unit hiked from one end of the island to the other. I can still remember being awed by the vastness of the water during my many months spent in the Indian Ocean. Anyway, thanks for the nice posts! |
