Issue from Egypt in 1956 (the 10 m. value, YT#384) and 1957 (the 100m. value, YT#391) for the re-opening of the Suez Canal. I had been wanting to get those for quite some time!

I wanted to be a Cartographer when I was younger. As a Kid I loved looking at and reading Maps especially Ordnance Survey Maps. Friends would cringe when I took the local maps along when we went on day-long Cycle rides or walks in the countryside. But I loved them, still do. Here is a cartographer who made his name, Samuel de Champlain who founded Quebec City. He was on the Expedition that surveyed the East Coast of America in 1606 and 400 years later, this joint issue by the USA and Canada commemorated that event. It was issued at the time of the 2006 World Philatelic Exhibition in Washington.

But the other side was just three more stamp pairs of the same design. So I showed the half with the Halifax skyline. For the next big booklet, though, I'll do that.

Cavelier de La Salle tercenary issue from Canada (Sc#446, from 1966). When my grand-father passed away and we cleared his office, we found a set of almost complete stamp sheets. Looks like he was in the habit of buying stamps as sheets for use in his office mail, but ended up with many unused ones.

Philatelic Souvenir from France, joint issue with Greenland from 2007, featuring arctic explorer Jean-Baptiste Charcot and his ship the "Pourquoi-Pas?" ("Why-Not?"). This stamp was voted the most beautiful French stamp of 2007, which automatically qualifies the stamp for a re-issue as a Philatelic Souvenir.
