You've got 2 in there that I'm missing! Nice lot. The colouring on the 6p NS is vibrant - is it a reprint? Is it on blue paper. I've never seen an original 6p dark green that bright before.

Poodle Mum The 6p is on a white limp paper.I'm totally not qualified to judge if its a reprint. After looking at your holdings I went and found this one as a BIN.Was feeling guilty neglecting poor old Nova Scotia. I'm really hoping to move on from the Large Queens soon.Thre are a couple more Pence issues in transit.

Thanks for the post and the photo, Mike. It sounds to me like you have made an incredible acquisition, and in fact, at least to me, it is something unheard of in more than 50 years of stamp collecting: 22,000 stamps, some in original boxes, some still sealed.... wow, just amazing! It seems like you have an epic story in the making here, so best of luck as you go through the carton. I hope that you will find even more great surprises! You are living a stamp collector's dream! Actually Chris, This was the second shipment, the first had 12,000 stamps in it. Yes, this is an Ohio Stamp Collectors Dream. I spent the entire day sorting and I haven't touched it yet. LOL. My eyes are crossed, so I had to stop finally. This is going to take awhile, I hope to finish the year. When I opened the box, I felt like I was 5 on Christmas day, and I got to do that two weeks in a row. Mike

I'm really hoping to move on from the Large Queens soon.Thre are a couple more Pence issues in transit. If the paper is hard, it's a reprint. It's definitely not an original - I looked for any bluish tinge in the scan before asking and I didn't see any. If the paper is not hard (as you mentioned), it's a very nice forgery but I'm inclined to believe it's a reprint. The "hard paper" would not be sturdy - think more in terms of the cent issues. If it's really limp like an original on bluish paper, it's a forgery. Still quite a nice addition. The bright colour of the dark green leans towards a forgery. Not a bad thing thing though - forgeries fetch high numbers nowadays. There are some that can easily fetch $200, depending on the forger, quality and which stamp. Can you post it in the NS section? I'm intrigued to find out if it's a forgery and if so, who it may be. My collection took a lot of patience and years. There is another shade variety of #6 that I've never seen and I don't think I'll ever see a #7 available. The one part of my Canada collection that is in sad condition are the large and small queens. I've very few of them. The rest is coming along quite nicely albeit my 3 pence beaver would be considered a space filler by some, I'd consider it a step up from a space filler - simply good condition. Definitely not the best. I'm having difficulty with my early Baden rouletted. There are some that are in relatively good condition but Baden roulette issues are hard to find in anything more than space filler/ reasonably good. They'll have a place in my album regardless but it would be nice to have some copies that look more decent. Oh well, it's a start.

Ahh - a 3p genuine - not too shabby. Good stuff Mr. Frog ❤ I realized recently that I may also have a genuine NS 3p stamp in my accumulation. I had forgotten about it, as it was part of a collection which I acquired as a lot, and I have not ever really gone through that lot properly to note all of what is in there. Sorry to say that my 3p (not sure if genuine or not) is a wreck: it is a true "paste-up", torn into 2 pieces at some point, and then very inexpertly stuck back together with an old stamp hinge. It has some corner bits missing, too. When I get home this coming Wednesday, I will make a scan of this space-filler and post it on the NS thread so that you can have a look, Kelly, and tell me if it looks genuine to you. I would really value your opinion.

While today was only a boring day mounting those couple stamps posted, it was a banner day for bidding. To my surprise I actually finally won a #63 as well as a couple other lots that looked hopeful. The wallet took a hit but I'm happy.Scan on arrival.

Continuing to sort the Ohio Stamp collection today. I found several errors in the lots today. Several serial number shifts, some without serial numbers and even a fold cut stamp. Just a few more for my special section. I call it a good day "Stampin". Mike.

Frog, when it comes to making additions, you don't mess around do you? That looks like a beautiful 4-margin copy of the NS 3-pence and a very nicely centered 3-dollar QV Jubilee. How about that NS 1-shilling? It looks quite different from its 3-pence cousin.... is it a forgery? Anyway, for only four stamps, there is a lot there! I am sure that Kelly ( Poodle_Mum ) will enjoy seeing more detailed scans of the NS material, as will the rest of us!

Before leaving on my current trip to California, I received a nice lot of stamps of classic Italy from a good friend and trading partner, so I spent a couple of days going through them and returning what I didn't need. Here is a photo of what the desktop looked like while I was going through all of those. It was this project that also led me to look through my Dad's accumulation, where I found the CLN Ponte Chiasso & Cuvio overprints that I have posted in their own thread.

I am now in the process of printing Steiner pages and mounting stamps. I am going 100% clear mounts (actual split from tall mounts so open on 3 sides) rather than mixture of mounts and hinges. I just print what I need. I am just working the late KGV to early QEII range.

I think that I am really starting to like the look of your pages with the clear mounts. In the past, when I used mounts, I only used the black ones, but I am liking the look of the clear ones more and more. Is it very laborious cutting them down from larger size as you do? Do you just use scissors or do you have a mount cutter? Just curious.

It is easy. I just use a standard paper cutter. You line up the mount so the split back is on the cut bar and then cut. The key is t0 allow the mount (at the split) to "catch" edge so it will be aligned. I have not had any real issues with off angle cuts. For a 25mm high stamp, I cut down a 57mm mount This leaves a 1 to 2mm more headroom but you do not notice it much since the mounts are clear. I have had fewer issues with this approach than hinges and I can upgrade to mint later.

I'd like to report the status of my soon to end winter session of serious collecting.I try to get as much work as possible done every winter before the work season begins and this year was actually disappointing. Not much actual consolidation was done as far as moving revenues into proper years.I blame the late acquisition of Vam Dam's early two volume album which still needs to be broken down to years into collection.I did make it through about six albums mounting scattered singles and used blocks that were stuck into page protectors awaiting me, covering stamps til about 1962.No work done on new releases or checking other albums. The new U.S. collection was left untouched although Mom had it pretty well under control.(thanks Mom)There are still thousands of stamps to sort that I soaked off paper, mostly from new purchases and neighbors coin shipments. My purchases were mostly improvements to Large Queen holdings but of note a couple Nova Scotia and the #63 along with 2 of my missing Newfie Airs.Work was continued on missing issues from both SSJB and of course my excise tax collections both moving along with completion predicated within two years. As far as my usual give aways sadly not up to par, something I really enjoy was a little short this season. This I blame on my new computer which gave me fits getting it up to par. My friends here supplied me with a couple nice additions to my reference works for that I say thanks. Although I still have couple weeks I must start putting loose ends away and get ready for a long season of hard work.I'll still check in when I feed the cat but computer time will be short. With luck maybe another snow storm will give me another couple weeks to finish what I can here.

With luck maybe another snow storm will give me another couple weeks to finish what I can here. So, Frog, does this latest snowfall qualify as sufficient to give you those couple of weeks? I hope so! As for me, not much time for stamping due to the upcoming relocation, but I did manage a little time last week to sort through my Lebanon holdings. I was inspired to do it when I read Bombadil's excellent post about his hometown in which he pointed out that posts on Lebanon's issues were non-existent. I have now made one post of my Lebanon French Mandate Issues (1924-1927), and there will be more posts to come on the Issues of the Republic under French Mandate (1927-1942). I will also post some early Issues of the Independent Republic (1942-present), as it turns out that my Dad had a few interesting sets from the late 1940s and early 1950s which I also came across recently. After sorting and organizing, I put the duplicates into a glassine and shipped off to Bombadil, hopefully to arrive before his departure for Africa. Bombadil recently sent me a package of stamps (thank you very much, my friend!), but I had him send the material to my in-laws address in California as a precaution, and now I am regretting that decision, as it will be another week before I will have those stamps in my hands. I promise a post on the Stamps Received thread once I am able to open that package. That's about it for now....

Was not a great weekend with bidding.A couple lots I spotted early this week went for double what I was willing to pay.The only lot that I managed to secure is probably just a break even with long range return.I will post scans though when this one arrives as it has a couple Nova Scotia issues including mint NH #10.

Guess we have not been doing anything over the last month! I won a used 2018 Scott Classic album on ebay so should be getting that soon. I decided to upgrade from a 2005 as I inventoried by British Commonwealth (mostly pre-QEII) in Stamp Manage.

I created some country title pages for my collection. They are simple - just country name - but match the Steiner design (same border). I also ended up ordering another 5 Lighthouse Vario-G binders since my page count (not all have stamps) is expanding and now plan to organize them more in alphabetical country order. The advantage of Steiner pages is you can print as you need them.
I discovered that he has provided specialty pages that are not part of master set like I saw a few GB KVI variety (colors, watermarks) not found in his regular page set. The only clue is the file name: Great Britain KGVI Varieties.
Also, the CD has a folder call classic and worldwide. The classic section has pages up to 1952 or so but I noticed they do not always match the worldwide pages for the same range. For example, I saw an space error (frame too small) in a Classic page but fixed in the Worldwide section. I reported these to him but no response.

Attended stamp show, Orapex yesterday. Made a few stamp purchases. Got great deals on a few used albums. Now I have some place to put some of those stamps. Still much to sort that arrived while I was away. But the sun is shining and the gardens are calling me. No stamping til sun goes down.
