Does anyone else feel like they have an overwhelming amount of stamps? I think of myself as fairly organized, or at least trying to be organized but I still work all day every day and I don't have time to organize my stamps as I should. 9 years to retirement! Now this thread now has posts that would well fit in their respective threads but the scans are nice. Re: your 2 line post, Darrin, I have been "retired" for a few years now and have done much stamp inventory etc. Last count was some 35,000 inventoried stamps from various sources, most - 95% - from my late dad's accumulation over 30 years. I know I will never see the end of it so prepare yourself for lots of hours (pleasant). I had a hard time combining work and Stamps....did some bit by bit. At one point I sold some Canada stamps (incl. the Seaway Inverted MNH - my dad's) and some classics like Scott #1 etc Canada - I do not regret the move which brought over $35,000 which I put on my mortgage (real life) and hated going at the Bank to look at the stamps (safety deposit box) !! Trying to downsize presently and keep the Countries I prefer. Just sold FIUME and New Zealand to a member, outside TSF. My Greece collection is up for a ridiculous price - I do not do Ebay or Delcampe as a seller and will not. I to keep my time for stamping. Love discussions with TSF members - Will buy (on occasion) stuff to fill holes but since I have so many stamps, why buy more !! Hope retirement comes soon for you - Enjoy life (even with COVID-19) !! Darrin ( darkormex) - I'm of the same opinion. I've got a little under 20 years to go to retirement, and can't wait to be able to devote more time to my ever-expanding inventory... A little over 6000 stamps catalogued, and many MANY more to sort out... To be honest I worry about getting more as I suspect I would get duplicates I don't even know I have... At best I spend a few hours a week sorting and cataloguing - thankfully I have a very understanding partner!

Some of you may remember my purchase in november, 4 big boxes with albums and cigarette boxes filled with stamps. I have now gone trough the box with Germany! (The box with the black album) It was serious lot of stamps. And I think it's some time before I will work with German stamps.
The empty "German box"
Next box is Common wealth! Look forward to that one.

tobben63 ,I inherited a collection of stamps from a friend of our family whose father immigrated from Germany after the war. What I think is funny is he also had an Anthon Berg chocolates box that he had used for storage of loose stamps. I still have it and they are good boxes to store stamps in. I remember seeing your post about this before so if I mentioned it then, forgive me for repeating myself. Edit: Now I am looking back and, indeed, I repeat myself. Sorry.

darkormex Indeed, too much! And despite all wise intentions to buy less and organize what is already accumulated, it seems impossible not to buy more. Are we all addicts? Yes, I am definitely an addict. There is another stamp bourse coming up here in my hometown on March 14 and I am already anticipating the collections I am going to buy even though I have "an overwhelming amount of stamps" as I posted earlier. One can think of far worse addictions I suppose.

I certainly do. I said to myself...self...no more buying. That didn't work. I guess it's that thrill of finding one gem in the bazillion stamps I manage to acquire. I'm never close to getting everything sorted out.

Here is this weeks new stamps for me. I just opened all the envelopes that I received this week. Top is the 1982 Purple Heart first day cover done by Pugh, Below are two different 1945 Iwo Jima first day covers, one for my collection and one I plan to give away, below left is an Ohio Malt Beverage Tax stamp that I need, and below right is an accumulation of SAAR stamps that I need a few of, the rest will go in the sell/trade book. Not a bad week over all.
Here is a better pic of the SAAR stamps.
Here are the stamps received earlier in the week.
A little over a page of US Cigarette Revenue stamps, of which I only need a few of.
and a few Ohio Bedding Tax Stamps.

Today I am making album pages for 2009 Japanese stamps. I have already made them for 2010-2018. I have Scott International supplement pages through 2015, but they do not contain spaces for the stamps that are on minisheets which is about 95% of Japan's recent stamps. I'm hoping to eventually fill in pages back to 2000 to the Millenium sheets that I made several years ago.

So I got to work on a pile of stamps sitting on my desk. I figured they'd better be put away before something happens to them. I fear I have worked too long on them today. I noticed the Traditional Trades low value definitives I just received were odd in that ½ the stamp was missing glue. I checked Unitrade to see if it was a known variety. Seemed odd to me, I had never heard of this error before. On making a closer inspection, the selvedge had been folded over & I didn't notice it on initial quick inspection!
Time to chop up a bunch of vegetables for dinner, and watch some TV!

After sorting and putting into Vario pages stamps from France I have been working on the 1st of the Sower pages (Yvert 129), and I've now shifted to opposing pages, legend for Types on left page and stamps mounted on right page. And instead of B/W I will try printing the legends in color as I think they will show better.... just not sure if yellow circles to indicate area against rose/red stamps is the best choice. I won't be able to printout until Monday using my office printer.

Today I’m Uploading my United Nations to Colnect to trade/swap lists. I now have 22,000 stamps to trade listed and I haven’t started on most of the duplicates for the countries I’m keeping. I had no idea there were so many! Holy moley!

This weekend I worked first with Hong Kong. I also inventoried them in StampMate and on Colnect. The leftovers I scanned and put out for sale on Facebook. 108 different, stop at 1970. I collect them on Lighthouse Grande pages (bigger than Vario) and in Classic Grande album with slipcase. Then I took Pakistan. Did the same. 124 different. Started on Malta, but did not finish. I will continue to do this with a lot of countries, The sale sum for each country is not much, but together it become accumulate enough to bay more stamps at next large local auction And it feel good to know what I have and what I want.

Spent a lovely weekend cataloguing more of my Belgian stamps. Now up to 911 unique stamps (including quite a few variants), from the 1860s up to the 1980s. All loose leaf hinged stamps now catalogued, and I've finally started on going through a rather nice Davo album with quite a few stamps in to pull out the ones I don't have. One day I'll get to the 5 stock books full of stamps - including the entire page of Leopold I epaulettes and medallions... And as if I don't have enough, picked up two more lots of older Belgian stamps for a reasonable price online!

I've finally completed transferring Hungary. As normal for me, I've mounted on custom pages until 1940, and sticked into Lighthouse Vario Grande pages for later issues. The amazing compact storing capacity of the Vario Grande pages became very evident on a country like Hungary. Previously I had Hungary stored in 3 X 64 Lighthouse stockalbums. Now it's all housed on 25 custom pages (x 2-sided) and 70 Grande pages, giving spaces for all stamps issued until 2000, but it can all sit in one single binder!! I am going to split it in 2 albums for ease of handling etc, still amazed that all those thousands of large pictorial stamps can be accommodated within one album. That's compact! Which is good for WW collectors, we do not necessarily need to extend our houses to have room for it all.

It was all Greek for me this past weekend. I pulled all the remaining stamps from the pages of an old collection I bought and am sorting them and mounting them on my pages. I was mainly working in the 1960s issues. I did not get back to the Hermes Heads this weekend but maybe during this week or the upcoming weekend I will follow up with those.

darkormex I just stumbled upon several pages of Greece, I will try and sort out and scan (the pages are in a horrific order) I have spent the evening finalizing an envelope to post tomorrow for renden (and hopefully this arrives as the last has apparently been lost....) and "almost" completing my France Sower 10c pages and now moving into the 15 c and the time change has me so off i shall try and force myself to stay awake to my "normal" time so I can get through this change to my circadian rhythms quickly!

I continued my Inventory journey and yesterday Malta was done. 103 different in collection, want 383! Stop at 1970 I put some of the duplicates out for sale and there came bid on them less than 20 min after I posted the lot. Sale is going well, just on small lots I'm well over $200,- so far in March, and all is on small lots. Here is an example of one wish list that StampMate can generate.

I am specifically sorting and mounting Greek stamps from the 1950s. I am working on two pages of Royal Family stamps issued in 1956 and then in 1957 in new colors.

I'm still working on getting my pages to print correctly.... I "think" I have found the issue causing things to save as A4 rather than letter.... though I won't know for sure until tomorrow. Checked "Apply to all documents" and hopefully it will not revert. computer/software troubleshooting wears me out.... My brain is tired

Working on collecting a group of stamps from Netherlands, japan, Australia for soaking together this weekend ... It is nice to have you back after your exams. We missed you! And good luck on your soaking. It’s like getting the stamps all over again once they are dry and flattened, true? That’s a very nice feeling. I especially like taking old stamps and removing all the yucky hinge remnants - they look so much cleaner. Sometimes I even try to remove pencil scribbles and then there are the hydrogen peroxide baths for the toning. It’s like a spa day for the old stamps haha!
