Looks like I'll really be puttering now. My ink cartridge just went south, and my new one isn't due to be delivered for a couple weeks. So mo more new album pages for a while.
Instead, I guess I can do some catching up on my wantlists, sorting and identifying some of the accumulated hoard, doing some organizing. The tasks seem never ending.

I am moving on to countries that begin with the letter "I" including Ireland, Italy and Island. I have some promises to keep and Japan will have to sleep until I get 25mm mounts in a couple of days.

I was fiddling with the new scanner and PMGS StampFix today. Some stamps just don't seem to want it work work its magic on them, so I have to do them manually, which isn't too difficult. I've scanned a number of stamps more for this month & thought this stamp was a candidate for June, but on taking a closer look... what month is "0"? There isn't even a hint of a number to the left of that zero. It is probably October, but we'll never know for sure. One problem I noted with this scanner just this evening, it has gone offline a couple times. AI found that I have to pull the USB cable out & plug it back in so the computer can recognize the scanner is there. A bit of a pain, but at least it is an easy fix.

This weekend, returned to Luxembourg and completed the inventory of stamps bought on TSF from ramanandn......all Mint NH. Will (should) be completing Poland this week, when I decide the cut-off date. All stamps up to 1949 are in 2 Albums...others stay in Books. Ivory Coast is slowly filling holes as stamps arrive....so slowly (the ones bought). I tried to complete the "River Scene" this week (Sc 42-77) and bought a few on Delcampe. The ' Navigation & Commerce ' 1-17 series has 1 stamp missing as of this morning. It is on a "watch list" on Hipstamp (high value). René

oldpapercollect - Putterer: doing a little of this and a little of that, here and there and everywhere. Eventually things get done. At least that is how I view puttering around! It's much like surfing... see this click that, back & forth, this site, that site! It never ends!

After finishing the mounting of my North Borneo stamps, I had to go into Stamp Manage add them. Stamp Manage did not have much data for the country so spent almost 3 hours getting it complete to around 1955. I usually add catalog number, color, design number, perf, and color as a minimum. I can only imagine not many collectors of North Borneo use Stamp Manage. They may all follow SG and use some other method.
The collections I had purchased were on Scott pages and many spaces filled but once I got them on Steiner pages it showed how incomplete Scott pages were. The Scott pages was often missing higher values and many varieties.

Today I received an order placed on April 6 2020 from a seller in Australia. Just over 2 months travel, posted April 7. I wonder if the absence of an AIR MAIL sticker slowed its travel? The envelope is an attractive cover with a single franking of a stamp honoring the development of penicillin. The stamps are die-cut self adhesive in pane of 5 format. I see from the Australian Post site it comes/came in sheet format honoring four medical innovations as well .

This morning I was surfing Delcampe and picked up four items for my Oranges Philately collection. Now to find how long they take to get here.
The Algeria stamp is supposed to be an orange tree.

So, the real stampy question for me this evening is why are my Iceland pages not in the same binder with all of the other countries that begin with "I" and since they are not there, where are they?
Edit: Found! They are in the binder with India!

I am frustrated by my inability to work on Japan because I lack the appropriate size mounts. Sigh. Another day or so of waiting I guess.

I have a request to make for all members who post in this amazing topic. The request is made after comments made privately by others.
As this topic is a general one, one that many will not look back on and will not be used in a search function, I kindly request that images, diagrams, latest buys etc be posted in their relevant topics rather than here where they will most likely be lost forever. Which would be a shame because there are some nice and interesting additions here. By all means write about them but then send others to the rightful venue where it will be viewed and enjoyed for a long time (we hope).
Many thanks

I've got the first shipment since the lock down. A bunch of nice Austrian stamps. Slowly, things are going back to normality. I woke early this morning and bought some interesting Swiss charity ("semi-postals" for Scott) stamps. Due to the time zones, I had to woke at 3 am to be able to pick a few good stamps. But I'm happy. We`ll see when I get them!

Finally sorted out my Canadian stamps - only about 300 or so, but a nice selection never the less. Now scanning and sorting the scans. Then on to Cape of Good Hope - which should be interesting as I have several of the triangles to identify!

Should I leave the written part and maybe copy relevant info and repost? Again, oops! Real life is a bit crazy right now, but I’ll edit when I’m home at my PC. As to what I’m stampin’ today - just waiting for auction wins to arrive!!

philateliaNo need for deleting and re-posting. It's a reminder that most images/diagrams/charts etc are much better served by being in their respective topic. There, they can be found, searched for easily and without hassle. This is a general topic. Once you start getting specific and wanting to add images then it's time to go to the subject. Imagine in a few years time someone looking for images of Postal History or Canada Small Queens where will they go to ? The last thing anyone is going to do is trawl through 462 pages of Whatcha Been Stamping? (An estimate of the number of pages on this topic in a few years time !!)

A coming and going kind of a day.
“Coming “ included 2 WWI censored covers of Samoa which arrived from two different sellers.A cheap schoolboy album bought as a speculative purchase may prove disappointing but there are two nice Austria used in Lombardy-Venezia which could be the only gems , and there are half a dozen fancy cancels of 1920Denmark “stars” to pass to my neighbour who collects these.
The big “going “ was a group of 1880s Oxford College Stamps , acquired way back for maybe £25 or so , none cost more than £5 max. Listed last week on eBay at £29.99 they went crazy with 44 bids pushing to an unbelievable £510............. I am speechless but I’ll post images in a suitable thread for information.

Doing a little of this, a little of that. 1 - Reorganized a mess of loose album pages, loose stamps in large envelopes and on stock pages. All things I've been accumulating from various purchases. Now neatly (sort of) filed, by country, in 2 large 10 gal. plastic tubs. This is some of my "feeder" stock that is awaiting sorting, identifying and mounting. 2 - Plated 6 new (to me) copies of Spain #1 for my plate reconstructions. Got all of them from the APS sales site. 3 - Since I can't make any new pages, I decided to work on a couple albums I already established and mounted. I was able to add 40 stamps to Iceland and Egypt (20 each).
A little background to catch everyone up: When I started on my worldwide journey, about 2 1/2 years ago, my ultimate goal was that I wanted to have 100,000 stamps mounted. Although I'm still a long way off, I think I have enough material to make it happen...…eventually.
At the beginning of this year, I set a short term goal of 40,000 by the end of the year. I'm about 1000 stamps behind that pace right now. But that was before all the bad stuff and anxiety of not knowing what was going to happen with me and my wife, our jobs, etc....
As it stands right now I have 29,548 mounted stamps and philatelic items (like Souvenir sheets). I haven't even touched any of the BIG countries yet, like Russia, Hungary, Poland, Bulgaria and some others.
My motto is...… "If it's not mounted, it's not counted!"

back at sorting Austria... i'm down to a couple of plies ... maybe 200 more to go. I wish my Michel specialized would arrive- the mail is so slow, especially for book rate....
I almost wish I had an assistant! ..."come lad (or lass) there's sorting and cataloguing to be done!"
I've given up on the tooth fairy, no help at all... and to think of enamel I gave up for pennies on the dollar!?!

I got back into that pile of German stamps I won, courtesy of jamesw and sent by Beryllium Guy. So many to go over. I am picking out a fair number for the postmark of the day thread - prepare to be flooded! Well... some anyway. The rest I am setting aside for another give-away. Large selection of 50's on up, nice cancels with a number of dated ones, I'm not keeping all of them! When I finish going through the pile, I'll either have one lot or two, depending on numbers interested.

Yesterday 6/9/2020 was a bit disappointing to me since I was researching for a presentation on Nurse Clara Maass, yes that Clara whom the US Postal Service issued a stamp for back in 1976. As an early first responder [sic] she died for the cause and yet only 2 countries [U.S.A and Cuba] have issued stamps to commemorate her life. Lets all say thank you to all first responders during this current pandemic. I will put up my presentation later today.

On the heels of yesterday's celebration for Portugal day, I have been reviewing my bids placed for local club auctions both completed and yet to occur,
As shared in other threads, Specialised Clubs, Collecting Societies or groups have periodic auctions for their membership as with recent club auctions here in Portugal. However as jkjblue points out in anther thread, it is not the place one typically finds a bargain. With collectors selling to collectors, it is the place though to find better material that has been vetted and could just be that missing gem...
Happy collecting!
