I have a new stamping tool - a 10.1 inch Android tablet. I got tired of watching the APS stamp chats on the porch on my phone so I will see how this works. If they just added cellular capability it would a huge phone and buttons!!! I have an Android so easy to copy basics over to the device.

Today while looking through my Latin America accumulations I found this tiny stamp. It actually measures 1 x 1 1/2 centimetres [SC. 601]and was issued by Colombia. Of course I Googled it and found out that that country had produced the smallest stamp in the world before. Those Colombians must have had good eyesight back then cause I can't see it with my naked eyes.

I've finally gone through all those German stamps. Now I just have to scan the ones I set aside. I haven't decided how I'm going to set up this giveaway yet, probably 50's-70's and 80's -00's. I have a bunch of duplicates that I can throw in as well. Just ho-hum cancels on most of them though. I'll also add some bonuses the winner can pick from. - souvenir sheets, or some MNH issues from the time period they pick.
Stay tuned next week...

at long last the last of the Austria hoard has been placed into Varios... order may be a bit out of sorts, but I'll deal with that when I'm ready to start making pages
now, off to France!

There seems to be a steady flow of card stock and binders arriving here on Beadles Point. Good thing Amazon has free shipping and Staples sends regular coupons!
I have printed Steiner Australia pages through 2013 and are mounting stamps as I go. I've also been sorting and mounting more Canada stamps that arrived here last week.
Some more mixed lots arrived today, including Australia/Oceania and Latin America.

Having had a bit of a philatelic putter over the past few days, specifically with the collection of Penguins & Antarctica-themed material, I am embarking on a new project, JARE(s)
Happy collecting!

OK, Vince ( stanley64), I'll bite.... what is or are JARE(s)? I did an online search, and the only one that fits in with your other interests is: Japanese Antarctic Research Expedition If that's not it, there is also: Junta de Auxilio a los Republicanos Españoles My money is on the first guess!

YAY!! My new printer cartridge arrived yesterday, so I'm good to go for another 1500, or so, pages. And I didn't waste any time either. I decided I'm probably going to set my Sweden mounting project aside for now, since it is going to take a LONG time to finish anyway, and throw in some other projects that are quicker and not as complicated. Last night I printed Steiner pages for Canal Zone. It should be a quick mount up job, since I don't have all that many and don't really have to worry about making custom pages for varieties or anything like that..

Sounds like a good idea! It's good to start a sweet little project every now and then, and get a relief from the more massive projects - like mounting all the stamps, pairs, blocks etc of Sweden. I need to find myself a sweet little project to, when Finland is done...

Yes, I'm plan on gong overboard with the Sweden, just because I have so much of it. I'm planning on making pages for all the sheet singles, booklet singles and pairs, booklet panes, se-tenants, etc......all in both mint and used, on the same pages. Not to mention the occasional cover, and all the nice cancels I can fit on pages.

Indeed Chris ( Beryllium Guy ); well done and I am glad to see the curiosity alive and well ;-) JARE is the acronym for Japanese Antarctic Research Expedition and as part of my tidying efforts, I found several Antarctic Expedition from different countries with unique cachets including a few from Japan. The plan now is to do the research, fill in the gaps where they exist and hopefully produce some album pages or an article for the efforts... Happy collecting!

Well, I stepped in it again!
I thought I could get away with working on the stamps of the Canal Zone, without much problem. But, as I was going through my Scott catalog I noticed that many issues can be found in both wet and dry printings, much the same as some of the US definitives. Sooooooooooo, I guess no matter how simple I TRY to make things, I will always seem to end up in a rabbit hole of sorts. I win't work on the wet/dry printings right now, but I will make a note of it in an electronic file I keep for such things.
As far as Canal Zone goes, I wound up with 89 stamps and 1 post card. Not bad, since it's an obscure area for me. I think I have at least 1 stamp on each of the 21 Steiner pages available, except 3. So, I'm pleased.

Not that I need any additional projects, but I really do want to play on the Postmark Calendar thread too. So, tonight I sat myself down and started logging postmarks on a simple spreadsheet, starting with the current country I am working on....Sweden. I am trying to only include the ones that have readable, dates and years, or at least that are fairly obvious. So far I've come up with 184. Since I am a worldwide country collector, I had to come up with a method of logging them so that I will be able to find them in my country albums. I didn't really want to start scanning them all in right now, as that would really chew up time. My plan will be, when I get enough of them logged in, to scan a weeks worth at a time. Then I can mark off, on my spreadsheet, the ones I post so I do not duplicate them.

I've been slowly (as usual) working on my German album pages. I'm at 1992 now, gradually getting to 2000, where I'll stop. Going through Scott's catalogue, I can't help but wonder who the editors are. The 1992 Europa 60pf is described as, "Woodcut illustrating letters from Coumbus. 1493." Huh, what? Michel states "Landing" (at America)! Where are the letters from Columbus? I see other oddities like that. Also, when another editor takes over, they don't keep the same format as previous ones. Some series are grouped together, some not. I thought I had the entire series of Scenic Views, but no, another editor must have taken over & instead of adding them to the bunch earlier, just added them in as they were issued.
Since I am not collecting past 2000, I guess I have to look anyway to get the other additions to the views, paintings and buildings. I like those large format stamps from these series.
I stopped the charity (semi-postal) stamps at 1992, but like the large format cars that were issued in the 2000's. And what is the reason for Scott's to call these stamps "semi-postal'? I suppose "C" for airmail - there's no C in airmail (!) was already in use, so Charity was out!

Still working my way slowly up the alphabet, using Scott as a guideline. Just completed sorting my very modest set of Chilean stamps (with some nice early telegraph stamps) and will start, when I next have time, on sorting through the multiple incarnations of China. I've also been contributing quite a few new stamps and updates to the Colnect system lately, now I have data and scans to do this with. And I've just hit 400 posts! Wow, that's the most I've ever contributed to a forum I think - thanks all for making this place such a joy to visit on a regular basis! Little bit of statistical fun - I've been here 295 days, so that's an average of 1.35 post per day.

I spent a hours entering Nyasaland details into Stamp Manage. I am slowly (maybe procrastinating) on creating a spares and want list by getting Stamp Manage ready since it can do both. If only I could update the output into colnect.

Several years ago, I purchased a couple of France collections and quickly moved them into Vario pages without much care sorting them. Now I've spent the last two weeks trying to figure out what I've got, what's missing and what needs to be replaced; sorting them and mounting what I can. The material fills four Lighthouse binders, so it is a time-consuming task trying to sort them all and figure out what goes where. Fun though!

I thought I had gotten Austria placed in Vario's, but while being distracted by German States today (I'm supposedly working on France) I found this (and 9 more pages (although not early issues.... It never seems to end

Yes, I will confirm what cursus pointed out in the previous post. Mail is beginning to arrive & depart more quickly and to that end I have made an experiment. I have made a few purchases (non-expensive) and sent the odd letter to/from various countries and they are all arriving ! I did this because I don't want to send things out or buy something of value if there is still a problem. It appears the worst is over........hopefully ! To that end I will be sending out packets to Beryllium Guy, coastwatcher, brightonpete and cjoprey in the coming days which were from the Giveaways I ran at the wrong time (Coronavirus) !! Well not really wrong, just unfortunate. Anyway, they will all be on their way shortly together with a couple of promised packets for daveg28 and angore. Enjoy and Happy Collecting. Londonbus1...

Thanks Londonbus1! I've been carrying on with my "C" countries, and have today finished sorting the various China incarnations, Colombia and Comoros Islands. Also realised that Scott lists Independent State of Congo with Belgian Congo, so indulged in a little re-ordering of my collection.

I've completed Finland until recent issues. Cherry-picked a few dups to fill some holes in renden's album. I've checked philatelia's Finland collection on colnect, but I found your collection is already very strong (Well done!) so unfortunately I couln't help to fill any of your holes, sorry for that! I found a copy with inverted watermark, which I know Chris are looking 'desperately' for , so it is dedicated for you Beryllium Guy (and a few other stamps). All the reamining offered as give-aways. Tonight I will start with what I consider the sweetest part of stamping for any country - to organise the different postmarks I find along the way! I've found approx 400 different postmarks for Finland. Tonights task is to get them mounted on dedicated album pages I've made for Finnish postmarks, with spaces for about 2000 different places/towns/willages etc. Most of the spaces will remain empty, but it is still pure joy
