Started sorting through a french accumulation I received several months back and just now getting to. One is in a 3 ring binder of stock pages mostly Vario, some manilla and inside the pocket on the binder cover was a small manilla envelope labeled "old stamps"... Interesting assortment- though the Japan airmail I don't think is that old in comparison to the others- only a stamp or two here i will retain (can you guesss which ones?)

I spent several hours scanning album pages country by country from my collection but going slow. I have stored them in country specific folders but need to go back and rename the files to be useful.

stainlessb, perhaps I don't know enough about your collecting habits but my guess is perhaps that one Bavarian stamp, the Spanish Queen Isabella and that German courier label...also maybe the New South Wales victoria.

I am continuing to work on Romania this evening, pulling stamps off old pages and placing on stockpages labeled by year for right now.

Yesterday, I was washing and mounting some newly arrived Iceland stamps, scanning some stamps and cinderellas to be uploaded on fòrums and bought a small sheet of Barcelona Stamp Club cinderellas. I'll show it here, later.

More album page scanning..It actually is not a bad now as I have the routine down and can watch TV at the same time. My goal is to scan at least 1 hour per day or about 250 to 300 pages.

Went to my Junkbox and did a count of more than 1200 duplicates I don't want, so listed here as a small auction to get enough to clear my postage costs. I also found long forgotten in a box, an old Strand Album with about 3000 WW stamps up to about 1955. A bulging junior collection untidy in places, which I must have acquired with other stuff about 10 years ago . Memo to self "well filled , mixed condition nothing exciting, must get rid of" , maybe £20 on ebay but must consider postage costs

I got into my Iceland spreadsheet a couple days ago and have been working on updating it. Out of sight, out of mind, I hadn't done anything to it for some time.
As I was advancing through the years, I had forgotten that I messed up some album pages quite badly, so now I am working on them before I advance with the spreadsheet.
And now I have something else to keep me busy, but this is for another thread...

I love reading this "Whatcha been stampin'" thread - keep 'em coming!
OMG I updated my log of active trades this morning, adding all the new messages and I have 37 trades offered or in various stages of progress. I am SLAMMED! I've decided to defer all the catalog value trading until after I get my Michel catalogs and reprice my better stamps using those. So if you saw some packets on my website that you wanted, speak now or forever hold your peace! LOL! But DANG this is fun! I've been getting envelopes in the mail every day. It's a nice feeling to know that all of those duplicates are getting a second chance to be in an album. Poor orphans need a good home, haha.
I have so many collections that I want to study and organize in more detail, but I'll probably wait on most of them until after this big trading binge. Who knows what will show up in my mailbox? Plus I have more collections on the way - My Birthday presents are still MIA - They show that they have been sitting in Chicago for three weeks, so, because they ARE REGISTERED, I filed lost mail claims. I can't believe what is happening to the hardworking postal service, criminal! But that's politics which are verboten here, so forget I said that, eh? FYI did you know that the USPS is the largest employer of veterans in the USA? These folks are hard workers, that's for sure.

No stamping for me today. Instead spent some time roasting coffee, troubleshooting a minor problem with the roaster with manufacturer's tech support, had a nap, worked on some web development projects, did a little leatherworking, and now am enjoying an indeterminate number of Bell's Two Hearted Ale.
Yesterday's UPS delivery included a bottle of "100% Pure Technical Grade D-Limonene" for removing SAs. A quick test showed it to be fast and effective, and I expect this 665 ml bottle to last a long time...

I am glad you are enjoying that Bell's Two Hearted, made here in Michigan. It is good stuff. I have had a couple of full days working from home with a third day tomorrow that will be filled with zoom meetings from 9:00am until about 4pm. I just told my wife I am too tired to even work on stamps so I am just going to surf the web, read a book and head to bed sooner rather than later.

Better than a poke in the eye from a wet umbrella as vikingeck would say, I took the challenge and plated this Penny Black that is currently being given away by Hipstamp.com,
Ruling out Plate 11, does anyone else think that this is from Plate 3?
Happy collecting!

In addition to plating Penny Blacks, I have taken to registering for some of the upcoming virtual stamps shows including the World's First Virtual International Stamp Show,
So the virtual spaces being created are pretty cool and I look forward to some of the presentations & exhibits, along with the chance for even a discussion on two. We will see how it goes, but plans are also in the works for attending NOTOS 2021, the European Philatelic Exhibition to be held next autumn in Athens, Greece.
Happy collecting!

worked on some web development projects, did a little leatherworking I really didn't expect to meet another leatherworker here, although I only make a few items a year - last was a little handbag for my grand-daughter's 4th birthday. On a more philatelic note, I completed a Colombia Consular Overprints (SCADTA) album last night based on the Sanabria Airmail catalogue. I created two versions of the album, one in the Steiner style and the other a more traditional format e.g this page: I have a friend checking the album, all 60 pages, but once this is done, the album will be freely available. Try to figure out what zoom meeting to attend. (Time difference) And I must say I'm curious of what else there is to see/learn from this. I think this might be the future for some exhibitions. Low cost and easy to attend.

I took a break from my trades to putter on a small Roman States lot that arrived yesterday. I collect Vatican and added in the Roman States as a precursor. This is my first foray into this area so it looks like I have quite a bit to learn. Looking at the lot I won and the catalog prices, I'm pretty sure many of them MUST be forgeries, so, once again, I've landed smack dab in the midst of a forgery rich area. Hey, who doesn't love a challenge?
This, of course, led me to doing a bit more reading about the Papal States, the Lateran treaty, etc. What a complex regional history - fascinating and I want to read more when I have time. I swear philatelists might be historians in hiding. So many of us find the history associated with the stamps as compelling as the actual collecting. True, yes?

I'm working my way trough a old envelope archive. picking those missing in my collection. Colnect on the PC-screen showing my want list for the country i'm sorting. The rest goes back in the envelope and the archive will be sold as is. I think I have ten ore more of those unorganized boxes. Need to get rid of them and make more space before next big auction.

Stamp-wise, I have been doing a little of this, and a little of that... - Put together a couple of mailings, one for Rene (renden) and one for Tony (tonyvella)
- I put a surprise item on each of those envelopes, products of a little project that I will post about in a separate, topic-appropriate thread
- Also did some soaking, including specialized soaking of fugitive-ink stamps, mostly from Hong Kong
- Did some "stamp surgery" to remove hinge remnants from old unused stamps, also mostly Hong Kong
Today is a very murky, misty Saturday here in Oxford, so a decent day for stamp activities. Next things: - More soaking and organizing of duplicates for more 50/50 auction lots
- Integrating the Hong Kong acquisitions from Londonbus1 into my collection and posting new images
- Collecting and studying Cape of Good Hope triangle stamp digital images to repair old posts in the COGH thread
Stay stampy, all! Teaser for the little project:

I am slowly finishing off the German album pages up to 1999. I am finishing 1998 and am just wondering...
With Germany issuing so many semi-postal's, which Scott's like to keep separate as back-of-book issues, how does Scott's catch up to the Michel numbers? With so many s-p's issued by Germany, you'd think they'd never meet! Maybe I missed Scott's numbering changes perhaps.
Phew, I am almost done 1999 & 2000 left to do as this is where I'm stopping.
All post 2000 will be either auctioned off or given away. Probably given away as it is far from complete.

with a heat wave advisory in effect an a forecast of 110F today, I think I'll be inside and focused on completing a couple of pages that have been started, or printed, but no mounts, after which, another batch to soak. Hope the power doesn't go out!

While looking through my stamp files, on the computer, I've noticed I have been accumulating a whole lot of reference pictures, screen shots, free downloads of catalogs and scanned-in magazine articles. Nothing focused, just things I thought were interesting that MIGHT come to be useful someday. Unfortunately, they were randomly saved in various folders and totally unorganized. Well, now is the time to do something about it. I started converting things to .pdf and consolidating them into a single reference folder, arranged by country name first for easy locating. Still working on Bulgaria as well and also rearranging some shelves to accommodate all the newly acquired reference books........My stamp room is slowly shrinking!

I was working on new pages until I discovered the mount I chose was just an itsy-bitsy-teeny-weenie bit too small...
now I'm having a glass of wine!
get out early tomorrow for some golf and back in before it gets too hot (presently 106F in the shade of my patio) but no rolling black-outs
